Lyrically Speaking - 2/1/16

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Mon Feb 01, 2016 7:25 am

Hey, the 2016 LSWE has finally begun! I'll bet you're (cue George Carlin) more than happy!

Image

And that's what the first game of this year's contest will be themed around... songs about happiness! So no singing the blues or getting your angst on today. Put on a happy face and have a great time!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. I'll make you happy (make you happy)
You'll never be blue (never be blue)
You'll have no sorrow (have no sorrow)
'Cause I'll always be true (always be true)

2. Baby's good to me, you know,
She's happy as can be, you know,
She said so.

3. The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

4. Now I don't want you back for the weekend, not back for a day, no-no-no
I said baby I just want you back, and I want you to stay

5. Hello lamppost, What cha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain't cha got no rhymes for me?

6. It might seem crazy what I'm about to say
Sunshine she's here, you can take a break
I'm a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don't care baby by the way

7. Just like the light of a new day
It hit me from out of the blue
Breaking me out of the spell I was in
Making all of my wishes come true

8. Ain't no sense in stayin' inside
If the weather's fine an' you got the time.
It's your chance to wake up and plan another brand new day

9. And even if time is passin' me by a lot,
I couldn't care less about the dues you say I got.
Tomorrow I'll pay the dues for dropping my load.
A pie in the face for being a sleepy bull toad

10. You're better then the best
I'm lucky just to linger in your light
Cooler then the flip side of my pillow, that's right

11. Cause you came and you took control
You touched my very soul
You always showed me that
Loving you was where it's at

12. Somethin' in the wind has learned my name
And it's tellin' me that things are not the same
In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze
There's a pleasin' sense of happiness for me

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that's about happiness.

Me and BeBe are reporting for duty -- and play time. We've decided to call our team name the Furry Squirrels, in honor of our backyard friens, our favorite toy (the stuffed tree trunk with the baby critters), and our big sis Annie's Rule. We'll do our best.

2. Baby's good to me, you know,

I Feel Fine, the Beatles. (If those guys had gone to home school, they might have known how to spell "beetles." We won't criticize, because maybe they did it on purpose, the way I spell frien without a d. I dunno.)

3. The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.
What a Wonderful World, by that big Hawaiian guy Izzy. When Izzy sings it, it makes us cry, so I'm not sure why it's in Mr. little's Happiness Pile.
5. Hello lamppost, What cha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing.
Ain't cha got no rhymes for me?
The 59th Street Bridge Song, by Mr. Simon and Mr. Garfunkel. That's happy! It's a song I would whistle, if I could whistle. BeBe can, but only through her nose and she usually only has a range of one note.
6. It might seem crazy what I'm about to say
Sunshine she's here, you can take a break
I'm a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don't care baby by the way
Happy, by that guy who wears a game warden hat. We don't know his name, but my mom used to do a tappy dance to this song, so we heard it over and over when she was practicing.
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that's about happiness.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow, by lots of singers, including Miss Judy Garland and the aforementioned Izzy guy, but not together. He didn't make this one sad.
Image Bonus: Show me something that makes you happy!
Bebe picked this. In keeping with another thread, she says she is happy to see good actors get good parts without regards for their DNA. In addition, it made both of us laff and laff.

I purposely didn't mention Prozac in my intro because I was hoping someone would use it here and get an instant Image Bonus Bonus win. Alas... I had to find something else that made me happy, and I think I got the biggest laugh from TBone's censored pic, so he picks up the first IBB of the season!
