Walmart is closing 154 in the United States, 115 in other countries.

Is Jade Helm Redux coming soon? Someone must have dug a lot of tunnels.

I see that 102 of the 154 US units are the "Walmart Express" stores, which only started five years ago.

Maybe they can work on the online ordering /store pickup.
I placed an order online for a suitcase, got the notice it was at the store. The store couldn't find the item after looking for over 2 hours. I went elsewhere bought another suitcase and then can back to tell them to cancel the order. Nope. 4 days later I get a call that they found the suitcase. It took 3 phone calls to get my credit.
Never again.

Many years ago-maybe early to mid 90's when Walmart was in a major expansion phase

I read that they were opening 3 stores a week, however they were also closing 1 store a week (presumably in smaller southern towns).

More likely the closings were in reflection of a new, larger store opening up right across the street.
