Not much on the wedding plans today. If you want, just head to the next topic. I won't be offended.
Left work to get home for an "early to mid-afternoon" appointment with the elliptical repair guy. As I pull into the driveway, my cell phone rings. GW is ill, and heading to the doctor. The problem has bad potential from the description, so I'm a bit worried, hopefully about nothing.
Then I go into the house, and the answering machine is blinking. Put my stuff down, hit the button. It's the repair guy, informing me that he's sitting in my driveway an hour early and I'm obviously not there. Says he "thinks" he's a bit earlier than he had stated, then tells me to call him back, he MAY have an opening on Friday. WTF???? I take off half a day from work, and YOU'RE NOT COMING BACK TODAY BECAUSE I'M NOT THERE AN HOUR EARLIER THAN YOU SAID I SHOULD BE????
The contact phone number I have for him is his home number, so who knows when he'll actually get a message. I leave one anyway, expressing my unhappiness with about 10% of how I really feel about it. Then I call his company to see if they have a more direct way of contacting him, like this afternoon so he'll show up when he had actually promised. They agree that 11 AM is not "early to mid-afternoon", and will try to get him back here. I'm not holding my breath. So now I'm pissed AND worried.
Well, I think, at least I get to watch a fresh SyndieBAM episode in person. And then I get to watch what would have been an absolute dream $25K question for me get totally butchered by the contestant. I upset my poor dog by yelling at the television so loudly. They're using up all my dream questions. I am SO sure I'm gonna end up with something on the Bronte sisters' maiden aunt's middle name by the time I get on.

Please wait to worry. I hope she gets good news at the doctor. Let us know.
Repair man should be reprimanded severely by his superiors. Especially knowing someone has to be home to let him in. With today's communication abilities, couldn't he have just given you a quick call to ask if he could come early? Maybe since you weren't there, he could have had his lunch break and come back later??
I don't blame you one bit for being ticked off.

Quick update: Medical problem isn't so worrisome. Recurrence of something that we thought had been taken care of by medication about three weeks ago. Not so much, as it turned out. Stronger meds this time, and at least one day at home.
No return call from Elliptical Man yet. Not expecting one, either. Life's April Fool joke on me, I guess. Yeah, I came to the same conclusion as you, Kay. If I'm the last call for the day, go take a long lunch and come back when you said. If I'm not, then you scheduled someone else based on your original time estimate, i.e., later than "early to mid-afternoon", and can STILL go off for a long lunch and come back when you said. I suppose I can hope that he'll just come back today without calling again.
Uh-huh.
