on the airplane, from Vancouver to Dallas, I was sitting in ecomony, waaaaay to the back of the plane.
Just behind my seat, was Dr. David Suzuki, also flying economy. Most of us were very politely Canadian, and left him alone LOL

I had to look him up. In the process, I learned something else I hadn't realized before. Japanese-Canadians were interned during World War II, just as Japanese-Americans were?

Yes, the west coast especially was bad for this abuse of people.
