I thought the rule had changed and if a contestant didn't get to $5K he or she left with nothing.
As for the question, I guess he didn't know "go" and "ogle". Maybe he looked at "goo" and couldn't think of a word "gle".

I think the rules have been adjusted for Armed Forces Week. They didn't want any veterans going home with nothing.
