Argh!

Paul suggests she walk away, and Alex isn't willing to risk $5K on a 50/50 hunch to win an extra $10K and the opportunity to continue. What's the name of this show, again.

Incidentally, from the banter, Paul is a doctor (Alex was set up on a blind date with him by a nurse, while Alex was recovering from a colonoscopy), so I'd hope they were in a financial position to take a good bet.

Try the audience, but it will have to be a pretty good spike for me to go with it. Next, Plus One.

I should know this but don't. 50/50 and unless it says Brazil and the correct answer, sayonara.

Have to survive a temporary brain-fart on this one, but if I took my time, I'd get it.

Norma Bates doesn't ring a bell? How 'bout her son Norman?

7K: was alive at the time but have no memory of this. Never even heard of movie contestant knew. Hope I'd have the presence of mind to relate Amsterdam to Heineken. If not, +1.

See my comment above about the contestant's decision, Sprots. If you finally got your chance, after all these years, to be a contestant, you wouldn't be willing to take a 50/50 guess, risking $5K for an extra $10K and the chance to continue?

I haven't checked the latest rules (are they updated for this season?) but it seems pretty clear that they're following the old precedent of leaving the most likely distractor in the 50/50, so that lifeline is rarely useful when a contestant has already narrowed down the choices.

I disagree. I think during the first seven questions, they have been pretty generous with the 50:50, often leaving the LEAST likely answer. This of course is an exception.

As for Norma Bates, I know the name of Norman and made the connection, but couldn't necessarily make her as his mother.
