Not a single popular name on his class list.

I want Bolivar and Gussie to get big real soon.
Sigh.

My problem with this is it gives me far more questions than answers.

Are Albert and Herbert Otto brothers? Cousins? Twins? Was one of them left back?

Ditto Herbert and Winona Bargainier. Except brother and sister and not brothers. But you knew that.

Why are W.D. Pharis and A.C Tucker ashamed of their names? If they aren't, why are they going only by their initials?

Is Alice Maffett Glass married (gasp)? Why does she have a maiden name when no one else does?

Is Mabel Miracle really one? I think it's her stage name.

Looks like Mabel Miracle is at least possible.

Also looks like Herbert and Albert really were brothers.

Winona Bargainier apparently married someone named Matthews, but I can't find any mention of Herbert.

Here's a picture of Alice Maffett Glass Krikpatrick, so apparently Glass was a middle name that she just used. Her parents' names were Glass.

And, finally, there's a picture of the "new" Marlin High School (c. 1905) on their Wikipedia page. Apparently the school is still in business, although, as you might imagine for a Texas high school, most of the page is about football.

God bless Google.

Oh, Marlin, Texas? That's not far from where I grew up. I have cousins who went to Marlin High School, and one of them married a Swinnea. Given his age, there's a good chance Sibyl Mae is his great aunt!

Any are better than being named Isis.

My aunt Emma would be just thrilled to know she had a phony hipster etc name. If she were still here.

And she only had that name because the registrar (or whatever they were) chose w/o permission to "Americanize" (despite that Emma was born here) it from "Nachamah".

The "ch" is pronounced as in "Chanukah".
