Fifteen years?

#1 Post by AlphaDummy » Mon Nov 30, 2015 11:07 am

No...it has not been fifteen years since I posted to the Bored, although it does seem like it at times.

Actually, it dawned on me a while back that it has been fifteen years since my proverbial fifteen minutes of fame. (And, just now, it occurred to me that my fifteenth anniversary with all of you took place within the past couple of months...goodness, how time flies.) Anyhow...fifteen figurative minutes (actually more like fifteen seconds)...fifteen years...there is an odd symmetry here. And, given that I do "odd" pretty well, I figured that it was time for a trip down Memory Lane.

Over the next couple of weeks, I will be blogging my experiences in a real-time, day-by-day format. In other words, what happened on Sunday will be posted on Sunday; what happened on Monday posted on Monday, and so forth. There will not be posts every day, as there were some days where nothing much happened in terms of Millionaire. On the other hand, there will be some days where there may be multiple posts (hello, Taping Day).

Let us journey back, then, to the days when a certain game show was the Hottest Thing Ever.

Only nine and a half years for me.

Thanks for the reminder. I had to check my files for the actual date; this coming Sunday will be my 15th anniversary on the Bored, following my one and only playing of Round 2.

Damn, it's been a long time...

It's been 14 years and nine rows of stars since I was on.

Spooky true story about the trip. On the day after the show taped, Mrs. SSS and I went to the Statue of Liberty. The ferry made a stop at Ellis Island after Liberty Island, but President Bush was visiting Ellis Island that morning for a swearing in ceremony for some newly naturalized citizens. So, there was a big delay in our getting back to Manhattan and we didn't have time to visit the World Trade Center, which was also on my list of things to do that day (this was July 2001). I do have a great picture that I took from the ferry of Mrs. SSS with the Twin Towers in the background though.

It has been 16 years since I first posted on the long gone ABC WWTBAM bored. But my show appearance will not hit that 15 year anniversary for another three months. Times flies. It doesn't seem like that long ago that I got so wrapped up in that phone game, waiting for the elusive callback the next day, etc...

Me, too, in August. I believe either my first or second appearance coincided with the first anniversary of the show.

I'm pretty sure I watched your appearance during my one and only (to date) vacation at Lake Tahoe. --Bob
