C was the correct answer; however, looking at the Wikipedia page for Jheri Redding I don't see any mention of him being Irish-American or being a farm boy. It say he was a young man from Chicago, who moved to Los Angeles after WWII. And "Jheri" was a nickname, not his given name.

I was so ready to answer Dutch Elm; good thing it wasn't there. I did manage to get this one with the same reasoning that he did.

10K: Think violins; 50/50 to be surer

50K: Guess would be Bob. Think of Jheri as in "Jheri curls", a recently popular style in the African American community. +1

If you don't read the comics or if you didn't see the movie, this would be difficult.

This one would probably cost me all my lifelines. The only one I could safely eliminate would be D.

Sounds like a bad question. Perhaps John should protest and maybe get a second shot.

Ironically, it also says his given name was Robert.
I don't think Bob can possibly be right. The bob haircut wasn't named for a person - Webster says the usage of bob to mean to cut short (as in "bob-tailed nag") dates to 1675.
