Non-political Canadian politics question

Keep running across the phrase that Trudeau wants to scrap "First past the post voting." What does this mean and what is the replacement?

"First past the post" means everyone runs against each other, and whoever gets the most votes (even if only a plurality) wins. I have no idea what Trudeau wants to use, but possible replacements are a jungle primary (such as we use in California) or Australian-style instant runoff ballots. --Bob
