WWTBAM and number of times a person may audition

#1 Post by coasterick » Mon Mar 31, 2008 6:51 pm

Does anyone know what that number is? Do you know of a situation where someone was denied an audition for this reason?

I think you'll find that you can audition as many times as you like. No one here has ever been told they've reached the maximum number. I can't tell you that from personal experience, (as a non auditioner, but very good cheerleader for those who do) but there are others here who can.

I don't believe such a number has ever been set in stone or put on paper. I also don't believe that BBs should worry about such happenstance.

There are or have been a few unemployed local folks that come to the studio almost every day, taking the test and failing it. They have hopes of getting an eventual test that they may pass by mere chance or because they've seen the identical test before. I believe these persistent audience fillers are the people for whom the rule is most likely to be applied.

If they could pass the test the first or second time, they'd get a postcard -- good or bad -- and stop coming for another year. Nobody would have a problem with that.

They've been posting that warning on their website for the past few years, but no one here--including some folks who to put it mildly are repeat (even serial) auditioners--has ever been denied the chance to take the test and audition.

When you think about it...all they have to do is turn you down ONCE you audition...

That's the thing. You've got to pass their test before they officially can turn you down. It's the day-after-day non-passers that made them nuts.

Don't listen to these people. There IS a real number...it's one more than the number of times Marley has auditioned to date. Or maybe one less, I forget.

Ha, ha. :|

No, coasterick, they haven't exercised that "reserved right" to limit auditions on me, yet, and I hold the record among BBs. 19 auditions as I count them, combining the one time I failed the written test and didn't get the chance to interview with the one time at WIAW when I had the interview without taking the written first (their so-called "No Test" format--ha, ha).

I don't think they mind the folks who come in every day and fail the written test repeatedly; they just feed the scantron forms through the grading machine and then shoo them out the door with the rest of the non-passers, after all. And there have been anecdotes of people who pass the written daily, whose interview consists of "Thanks for coming again. Goodbye."

So I think that legalese is something they hold in reserve, in case a repeat auditioner crosses the line from annoying to really obnoxious/scary. Don't worry about it.
