#1 Post by BBTranscriptTeam » Mon Sep 28, 2015 3:53 pm

Albert Stumm
Philadelphia, PA
News editor

Albert is a news editor who checks facts for a living so he should be well prepared for his appearance on the show.

Albert has his 50:50 and +1 lifelines remaining.

$20,000: Besides Gerald Ford, since WWII how many presidents have run for a second term in office and lost?
A - 1
B - 2
C - 3
D - 4

Albert runs through the presidents' names -
Spoiler
he says that Truman ran for re-election in 1948 and won but then thinks he lost to Eisenhower. JFK didn't make it to the opportunity to run for a second term. LBJ decided to not run for a second term. Nixon had two terms, Ford lost to Jimmy Carter and Carter lost to Ronald Reagan. That means the count is one. George H.W. Bush lost to Bill Clinton. He served two terms as did George W. Bush. Barack Obama won a second term
.

A - SN3V3WP3
B - P3XVOH
C - HV100W
D - 370H55V

Albert turned his head upside down to try and read the answers, without success, so he gets down on his knees and tries again. He finally realizes what the answer is.

commercial break

$50,000: The word "infant" derives from the Latin word "infans," meaning what?
A - restful slumbers
B - unable to speak
C - hairless beast
D - always hungry

Albert thinks that "in" means "without" but can't figure out what the rest of the word might mean. He opts to use his +1, his husband Keith.
+1
Keith knows this - "infans" means "unable to speak".
Spoiler
Answer: B (unable to speak)
$100,000: Minutes after Neil Armstrong's famous "one small step" line, which of these things did Buzz Aldrin say just before stepping onto the moon himself?
A - "Beautiful view."
B - "I'm stepping down now."
C - "Oh my goodness."
D - "Scientia potentia est."

Albert doesn't know the answer but he thinks he can try and figure it out. He says that Aldrin is from Ohio so it was probably something Midwestern. Albert uses his 50:50.
50:50 results
The two remaining answers are A and C.
Albert has nothing to lose since he's at the $50,000 level, so he makes A his final answer.

This question was convincing evidence that our new host wants to show to be about game play, again. Albert took a long, long time to work his way through this question, although he clearly was making continuous progress towards the answer, instead of just being stuck and hesitant to make a decision.

And all through the deliberations, Chris maintained a respectful silence! No interruptions. No change of topics to ask, "how are you feeling" or "how would you spend the money." Just let the contestant work it out.

Well done, Chris!

I'd have used my 50:50 to confirm what I thought - the stencil.
