World's Worst Daughter

#1 Post by tlynn78 » Mon Sep 14, 2015 10:24 am

My mom was texting for me while I was driving. She saw FML in a text to my sister and asked what it meant. I told her it meant, Forgive Me Lord. It's official, I'm burning in hellfire.

I don't know what that means. See my post in another thread re: 58 years old, naive, ignorant.

Might I add to that: I don't text.

Well, then. It means just what I said. It does not mean "F@#& my life." Nope.

I usually find myself having to use the phrase you gave your mother more often, though.

Uh oh, now when she texts someone that, they are going to be mighty surprised!

I had to look up SMH the other day.

LOL - Luckily, she doesn't text. I'm a little scared she'll use it on FB, though mostly she just "likes" and shares spam.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I suppose this wouldn't be a good time to mention the elephant outside our window that rinses off the dishes...or the fact that the local theatre just got the brand new Gloria Swanson picture...or that I'm so out of touch I just referenced the Flintstones and Beverly Hillbillies in one post.

Hey, I've been meaning to watch that Game of Thorns thing...really.....just as soon as I finish watching every episode of my Complete Twilight Zone Series DVD Set....

I went to a high school run by Benedictine monks. A few years after graduation, one of my classmates was getting married. At the reception, they played Mony, Mony, and they got to a certain part of the song where peopel tended to yell the lyrics at the tops of their lungs. A sweet old priest asks a group of us that were nearby, "What did they say?"

To which, a quick-thinking young lady replied, "Get a job, drive a truck."

Hah! Up until a few years ago, my dad had the old Princess phone that had a real 110 volt line leading into it.

When the phone company came out to add a second line and update all the phones, the tech was going to cut that wire- would have electrocuted himself.

He'd never seen a Princess phone with 110 volt set-up before.

This is the closest I could find to what ours looked like.

I assume they were singing Mondegreen lyrics, as there is nothing in the actual lyrics of either the Tommy James or the Billy Idol versions that one couldn't say to a priest.

Hah. I opened this thread with some trepidation, thinking my late mother might have found a way from the beyond to get t-girl to tell the world all about me. It's true, I voted with my brother to NOT buy the $30,000 coffin she would have picked out for herself. We did get her the yellow roses she wanted, however.

(I got back home around midnight last night. I will go pick up the dogs as soon as they are dry from their Saturday morning bubbly baths at the Bed and Biscuit.)

Forget a $30,000 coffin. When I go, I want to come back immediately as one of Silver's dogs.
