Gone Girl question

#1 Post by christie1111 » Mon Jul 20, 2015 1:57 pm

Obviously if you have not read the book or watched the movie and don't want any spoiling, close this thread and move along.

Of course both have been out long enough that I shouldn't have to spoil it.

I watched the movie the other night and have a question. So at the end when she says she is pregnant and he says we haven't had sex and he will get a paternity test. How does that change. What did she say to convince him to stay? I must have missed something.

Nick knows it's his child; that Amy impregnated herself with his semen.

It's been awhile since I read it, but wasn't her absolute nasty crazy a reason he stayed, to make sure she didn't pull something evil in the future? Or something?

I sensed it was because he had broken some laws and would go to jail with her if he didn't stay. I didn't read the book, only saw the movie.

Wasn't "Gone Girl" the working title of "The Caitlyn Jenner Story"?

No, no, no. You're thinking of Free Willy.

My sense from watching the movie was if he tried to leave her, he would suffer a similar fate as Neil Patrick Harris' character.

Thanks a lot you guys. Please, no one comment on that Bruce Willis/Haley Joe Osment movie I haven't gotten to, or spoil Elisabeth and Mr. Darcy's ending for me.

Yes, and it is a great movie. I was talking about the more formulaic movies of each genre.
