This isn't a partisan post, and it doesn't deserve a knee-jerk response. Innocent people, including children, are dying in the inner city every day, and it doesn't get attention like a mass shooting or a terrorist attack. Listen to what President Obama said after the Newtown school shooting:

As a country, we have been through this too many times. Whether it's an elementary school in Newtown, or a shopping mall in Oregon, or a temple in Wisconsin, or a movie theater in Aurora, or a street corner in Chicago – these neighborhoods are our neighborhoods, and these children are our children.

Since I’ve been President, this is the fourth time we have come together to comfort a grieving community torn apart by a mass shooting. The fourth time we’ve hugged survivors. The fourth time we’ve consoled the families of victims. And in between, there have been an endless series of deadly shootings across the country, almost daily reports of victims, many of them children, in small towns and big cities all across America -- victims whose -- much of the time, their only fault was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Simply put-the number of deaths.

In many ways, actually it is much worse.

We had a lone crazy shooter in Charleston(per his manifesto, he was not able to find any one to help him-or words to similar effect) that did a "one-of".

Because of him-we are now ripping out vast parts of the culture.

OTOH,we have a culture that produced, literally, dozens of shooters in one long weekend in one city. To say nothing of other cities and the time prior to, and since the 4th.

It is very likely, that across the country on the long 4th weekend, that culture produced shooters well into the 3 digits.

That is one sick culture.

We will be beaten over the head with Tamir Rice(12 YO shot by the police) long after Amari Brown, Chicago 7YO, shot while watching fireworks with his father is long-forgotten.

Stephen Hunter wrote a firearms/gunfight analysis of the Tamir Rice shooting. Mr. Hunter is most known for his (pretty good) thrillers, but he also wrote a second-by-second analysis of the Puerto Rican (I think) attempt on Truman in the 50's. He has thought through gunfights as few people have.

I knew you would say this as you have before. That is obviously the depth of your argument and concern.Never mention the "Faux Masculinity" and the carnage of the inner-city gangs and slam any conservative who mentions it.

I (or those who share my world-view) really can't do anything about it. The cities where this carnage occurs have been generally governed by Democrats for generations. Any ideas I might have would never see the light of day there. It is all on your side to figure it out and your side is obviously doing a "Bang-Up" job of it.

I have been thinking about this one for awhile this morning. The best plan would be to follow the "Broken Windows" policing style of Giuliani and Bloomberg. That worked great in NYC. However, De Blasio has made it clear that he will not continue these policing methods.

Another red herring. Exactly how is the Great Society responsible for "ripping the black family apart"?

Black birth rates in this country have gone down consistently since the day of the great society. The primary reason for that is that birth control and abortion are much more widely available now than a half century ago. Out-of-wedlock births among blacks are a higher percentage now because black married women now have children at a lower rate than white women do.

Black unemployment is consistently double the white unemployment rate dating back since World War II and the gap was highest in the Reagan years.
