I thought it would look like a bad movie. You know, something with Kevin Kostner in it.Bob Juch wrote:

If it would get rid of the coastal states, I'd be all for it!

PS All these years of watching this movie and just now, upon posting this picture, do I suddenly see the double entendre of "Teschmacher Peaks".

Let's suppose that the video in the OP is true.
That's what's supposed to happen by 2050, meaning that the rise in sea level is happening gradually, not overnight. If the sea levels rose to dangerous levels, it would seem to me that the cities would have time to relocate, yeah?

No, it wouldn't be like Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Sandy x1000. But can you imagine the mess it would be to relocate hundreds of millions of people?K.P. wrote:Let's suppose that the video in the OP is true.

I beg to differ - I know two families who would miss Florida, but only because Disney World is there.Bob Juch wrote:No one would miss Florida or New York City.littlebeast13 wrote:If it would get rid of the coastal states, I'd be all for it!

Logically impossible. Until the entire country is submerged, there will always be coastal states. --Boblittlebeast13 wrote:If it would get rid of the coastal states, I'd be all for it!

Don't worry. Depending on who's lying to us, either both polar ice caps have grown tremendously over the past few years, or they are already gone (according to Al Gore in 2009).K.P. wrote:Let's suppose that the video in the OP is true.

It should be very easy to find out who is lying. The ice caps are either there or they are not. They are growing, shrinking or staying the same. Why is this still a debate? I have an opinion, but why should it be subject to opinions? Can we get someone who will tell us the truth?

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
