Trailer for The Martian

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 1:56 pm

It looks like they got it right. The big mistake (in my opinion) that Hollywood made with The Postman was failing to realize that the story was not, in fact, about the titular postman. It was about the spirit of America. Kevin Costner simply tried to turn the movie into a star vehicle and as such it didn't work. Not even close.

This trailer tells me that they get it. The story isn't really about the Martian. It's about the very first words of the trailer -- humanity's common spirit of helpfulness. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie in the theaters.

Does anyone know its scheduled release date? --Bob

It says "November" on the screen. Probably will be the Friday before Thanksgiving.

They apparently think it's in trouble if they're releasing publicity now and moving the release date back to when there'll be less competition.

Gravity had an October release; it did rather well.
