Very good! Take it easy.

Home for a few hours. Just woke up from a nap, my third of the day. --Bob

Glad to hear your recovery is going great.

Any funny stories about your conversations when you first woke up from anesthesia?

Just had my first post-surgical appointment. I'm told my recovery is going well (which accords with my own feelings). However, the doctor told me he wants me to continue wearing the cervical collar until my next (and I believe final) appointment in early September. This is a bit of a disappointment, because pre-surgery he'd told me I'd probably be wearing it after surgery for about a month. Apparently my bone quality is "good but not great."

Still, in the scheme of things, I have much to be happy about. --Bob

Good news! Guess you won't be a redneck this summer, though.

I'm glad to hear you are on the road to recovery.

How is your throat? It it typical to have such pain after anesthesia? Do they give you anything to make it feel better?

When I got my cast off after breaking my hand, the doctor gave me an ugly brace to wear. As soon as I got in my car, took it off only to find out how much it hurt without the brace.
So the collar with help.

My throat is fine now. The issue wasn't anesthesia. They had to retract my trachea and esophagus in order to do their work. Swelling resulted. It has now subsided. I was warned in advance it would happen.

In fact, it wasn't as bad as I expected. They intubated me during the surgery, and I was told that would leave my throat feeling raw. I never noticed any discomfort from that source.

I had pain medications, but I stopped taking the prescription stuff five days after surgery, and stopped taking anything at all (even Tylenol) about a week and a half after surgery. --Bob
