RIP John and Alicia Nash

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sun May 24, 2015 8:16 am

Mathematician, Nobel Prize Winner, and subject of the Oscar winning film A Beautiful Mind (he was played by Russell Crowe in the film), along with his wife Alicia (played by Jennifer Connelly) were both killed in a car crash. They were passengers in a taxi whose driver lost control of the vehicle.

He was 86; she was 82.

Ugh. That's why you should always use a seatbelt in a taxi.

As the article states, the film was loosely based on his life (it's about 1% true). For the true story read the book.

I agree that we should wear seatbelts.

I also think nearly every taxi driver I have ridden with has made far too many reckless moves, to the point where I won't use them now. This incident reinforces that position for me.

It's a sad commentary on today's world that when I saw this topic, I was half-expecting that it was some sort of murder-suicide. --Bob

Perhaps it's a sad commentary on you.
