I will take the gus for #495,000. I'm at work now, and this is pretty much all I have to do most of the time.

According to the list, on TUB there were a little over 295,000 posts.

The TUB had the shared message number system with all the rest of the ABC Local boards, so I had to use my daily post total log I kept to figure out what the real gusses were on it. I never was able to get a final number of posts for that Bored since it went down in the early afternoon, but I seem to recall we were in the 298,000's for it's 39 months of operation. Compare that to the 563,853 on the Love Boat in a mere 30 months.
We have now been on this Bored for nearly as long as were were on the other three previous incarnation combined (we will match it sometime in August or September), and we racked up very close to 1,250,000 posts for all activity from 11/23/99 to 10/2/07. Even with the spurt of posting we had during this Bored's first three years, we are still way, way waaaaaaaaaay off that mark for our 7+ years on the Raspberry....
6 gusses in 2014 after 7 in 2013. Hell, we used to have that many fall in one PJ party at times it seemed...

The internet was a baby...there were still phenomena that were shared national consciousnesses...WWTBAM was one of them.
In those 16 years, the internet has grown up, and our tastes and likes have been completely Balkanized...about the only thing left over which there is a shared national consciousness is the Super Bowl (and maybe some of the bigger awards shows).
1999 is an age and an age ago already.
Hell- I remember using my calling card on a pay phone on the college campus where I was getting my MBA so I could call into the Phone Game before classes.
Now you can hardly find a pay phone (I hardly remember what touch tones sound like since all my phones mask those sounds out now).
It is a testament to the core group of people on this Bored that there even still is a Bored that has the moderate activity level this one has.

By the way, cell phones don't use tones to dial at all, not just mask them. It's all digital. It bugs the heck out of me when they show someone "dialing" a cell phone and they add DTMF sounds in post.
