I'll let this go on a while longer before offering an important comment.

Most of the suggested artists were in USA for Africa..... I'll bet that's not a coincidence....

That was certainly the ultimate "jam" session. And they say the world is your oyster, too.

Now we know the specific artists to look for.
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

"In times of crisis, the wise build bridges. The foolish build barriers." --Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020)

No, the point I stretched was a match that was already suggested (and rejected). It had to do with a participant who is represented by a song wasn't released under his individual name. (There are two of these.)

This is the 30th anniversary of that ultimate jam. Anybody know what the traditional gift is for a 30th anniversary?

I looked up the unknowns since it's unlikely anyone's going to swoop in with the answers at this point, and found two parts to what I think is another match....

72. SAY IT Loud, I'm Black and I'm proud + 46. ISN'T It A Pity + 23. Hurt SO Bad = Say It Isn't So - Daryl Hall & John Oates

Well, that points to either Donnie Iris or the Shithouse Rats, and I'm betting on the latter since Bob Geldof organized Band Aid (Which inspired USA for Africa). Maybe that's the Uber Match?

Donnie Iris was most certainly not in USA for Africa. Geldof actually was in USA for Africa, so my I DON'T LIKE MONDAYS match actually turned out to be valid. :D

And the Uber Match would probably be this:

18. WE ARE Family + 51. Everybody Wants to Rule THE WORLD = WE ARE THE WORLD, sung by EVERYBODY in this game!
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

OK, I think I have everything so far. Removing my Dylan match and adding We Are The World....

Game #150: Pearl Jam

Identify the 75 songs in the clues below. (Most are from the pop charts, but we make a few excursions elsewhere.) Then, match them into 18 pairs and 13 triples according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself. Alternate matches may be possible – though I tried awfully hard to avoid it – but only one solution will complete the entire game.

For two matches, I had to stretch a point – but not to the breaking point. It was necessary to complete the puzzle. You’ll see.

Also, one of the matches is an Über-match that’s somewhat different from the other 30. You’ll see.

Suggested Tangredi: Words in the titles of two or three songs form another song that a member of USA for Africa was known for.

MATCHES:

8. BEING Alive + 57. When I'm WITH YOU = Being With You - Smokey Robinson
7. DANGER (Been So Long) + 58. Twilight Zone = Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins

This one gave me headaches because I wanted to cover all the Jacksons who were in USA for Africa. This song had the right lineup of brothers (minus Jermaine, plus Randy), plus LaToya singing backup vocals.

Now that I can look at artists in USA for Africa instead of artists who went solo, I can name off the other song titles that I had formed yesterday:

15. She Drives Me CRAZY + 48. Somewhere IN THE NIGHT = CRAZY IN THE NIGHT - Kim Carnes
68. Theme FROM A Summer Place + 27. The DISTANCE = FROM A DISTANCE - Bette Midler
60. ONE HUNDRED Pounds of Clay + 30. Mysterious WAYS = ONE HUNDRED WAYS - James Ingram
56. SLOW Ride + 3. HAND in my Pocket = SLOW HAND - The Pointer Sisters
34. Break on THROUGH + 52. Reelin' in THE YEARS = THROUGH THE YEARS - Kenny Rogers
61. WE'RE IN the Money + 41. THIS LOVE + 9. Get TOGETHER = WE'RE IN THIS LOVE TOGETHER - Al Jarreau

Ah, and here's the other song that Frank did a little creative fabrication on...

I kept looking for a "Living" to make "Living for the City" for Stevie Wonder. "Alive" is here twice, but that doesn't quite work. Not in this game.

This one works, though.

11. IF I Ain't Got You + 32. YOU REALLY Got Me + 53. Do You LOVE ME = IF YOU REALLY LOVE ME - Stevie Wonder

Going from Stevie to Ray (but no Vaughn)...

36. I CAN'T Hold Back + 6. STOP Stop Stop + 69. Keep on LOVIN' YOU = I CAN'T STOP LOVIN' YOU - Ray Charles

By my count, we have one pair and two triplets left.

Thanks Melly! I was beating my brains out trying to figure out why I was coming up with 9 songs left when we clearly only needed one pair and two triplets (8 songs), but now with the remaining three matches, I see I somehow don't have 16. ONE WEEK accounted for. I'll go back and find it and post the final answer...

lb13

Edited to add: Now I'm really confused (consoozed?), because according to Cltr-F, it appears nowhere in an answer in this entire thread...

You’ll see.

Tangredi: Words in the titles of two or three songs form another song that a member of USA for Africa was known for.
