Lyrically Speaking - 2/3/15

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Feb 03, 2015 7:45 am

Studies show that 4 out of 5 players don't bother to read the intros to Lyrically Speaking games. And the fifth player just got bit by an evil squirrel during the survey like that dentist in the Trident commercial. So without further adieu... here's today's Tuesday Wordplay game...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. We were the first band
To vomit in the bar
And find the distance
To the stage too far

2. I have a tale to tell
Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well
I was not ready for the fall
Too blind to see the writing on the wall

3. Listen, ah listen `cause
Don`t be, don`t be a dud
Take your girl by the hand
Walk with her in the sand
And always, yes always

4. By chasing after money
And dreams that can`t come true
I`m glad that we are different
We`ve better things to do

5. Hey girl I'm waiting on ya, I'm waiting on ya
Come on and let me sneak you out
And have a celebration, a celebration
The music up, the windows down

6. Oh I, I need you in my arms
Need you to hold
You're my world, my heart, my soul
If you ever leave
Baby, you would take away everything good in my life

7. There's so much wrong and negativity
Enough for the whole world to see
I know there's still possibility
You raise a little kid he turns out bold
It may be from the way you treat him cold
I guess that's how the story's told

8. If I let myself go
And for where I just don`t know
I`d maybe hit some cold new river
That led out to the sea
An unknown sea

9. But if this ever changing
World in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry

10. In the windmills of my eyes
Everyone can see the loneliness inside me
Why'd ya have to go away
Don't you know I miss you so and need your love

11. Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
'Cos I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

12. Rosanna's down in Texarkana
Wanted me to push her broom
Sweet Eileen's in Abilene
She forgot I hung the moon

I always read the intro. It helps make my answers cogent. Amirite?

Don`t be, don`t be a dud

I LIVE For The Sun-The Sunrays. This group was managed by Brian Wilson's father. By pretty much all accounts, Murray was a jealous, abusive jackwad who couldn't deal with his son having a gazillion more ounces of talent than he did. The Sunrays gave him something to do when Brian basically told him to butt out of meddling with the Beach Boys in the studio. Murray figured he could compete with Brian, which is why today EVERYONE knows the Sunrays

I suspect it's another shutout.
1. We were the first band
To vomit in the bar
And find the distance
To the stage too far

2. I have a tale to tell
Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well
I was not ready for the fall
Too blind to see the writing on the wall

3. Listen, ah listen `cause
Don`t be, don`t be a dud
Take your girl by the hand
Walk with her in the sand
And always, yes always

4. By chasing after money
And dreams that can`t come true
I`m glad that we are different
We`ve better things to do

5. Hey girl I'm waiting on ya, I'm waiting on ya
Come on and let me sneak you out
And have a celebration, a celebration
The music up, the windows down

6. Oh I, I need you in my arms
Need you to hold
You're my world, my heart, my soul
If you ever leave
Baby, you would take away everything good in my life

7. There's so much wrong and negativity
Enough for the whole world to see
I know there's still possibility
You raise a little kid he turns out bold
It may be from the way you treat him cold
I guess that's how the story's told

8. If I let myself go
And for where I just don`t know
I`d maybe hit some cold new river
That led out to the sea
An unknown sea

9. But if this ever changing
World in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry

10. In the windmills of my eyes
Everyone can see the loneliness inside me
Why'd ya have to go away
Don't you know I miss you so and need your love

11. Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
'Cos I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

12. Rosanna's down in Texarkana
Wanted me to push her broom
Sweet Eileen's in Abilene
She forgot I hung the moon

And for where I just don`t know
I`d maybe hit some cold new river
That led out to the sea

To Live and Die in L.A. Theme - Wang Chung (What a great movie. It has a pre-CSI (pre-Manhunter, even) William Peterson, badass Willem Dafoe, KROQ's own Stacy Binn and some awesome car chases.)

9. But if this ever changing
World in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry

Live and Let Die - Wings

Studies show that 4 out of 5 players don't bother to read the intros to Lyrically Speaking games. And the fifth player just got bit by an evil squirrel during the survey like that dentist in the Trident commercial. So without further adieu... here's today's Tuesday Wordplay game...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. We were the first band
To vomit in the bar
And find the distance
To the stage too far

Long Live Rock -- Who

2. I have a tale to tell
Sometimes it gets so hard to hide it well
I was not ready for the fall
Too blind to see the writing on the wall

Live to Tell -- Madonna

3. Listen, ah listen `cause
Don`t be, don`t be a dud
Take your girl by the hand
Walk with her in the sand
And always, yes always

Tell Her that you Live Her -- Hannibal and the Lecters

4. By chasing after money
And dreams that can`t come true
I`m glad that we are different
We`ve better things to do

Live for the Moment -- The Libertarians

5. Hey girl I'm waiting on ya, I'm waiting on ya
Come on and let me sneak you out
And have a celebration, a celebration
The music up, the windows down

Live it Up -- Bay City Pentecostals

6. Oh I, I need you in my arms
Need you to hold
You're my world, my heart, my soul
If you ever leave
Baby, you would take away everything good in my life

How Do I Live -- Trisha Yearwood or LeAnn Rimes

7. There's so much wrong and negativity
Enough for the whole world to see
I know there's still possibility
You raise a little kid he turns out bold
It may be from the way you treat him cold
I guess that's how the story's told

That's How We Live -- The Moralistic Preachers

8. If I let myself go
And for where I just don`t know
I`d maybe hit some cold new river
That led out to the sea
An unknown sea

Live on the Edge -- Collective Body

9. But if this ever changing
World in which we live in
Makes you give in and cry

Live and Let Die -- Wings or Guns N Roses

10. In the windmills of my eyes
Everyone can see the loneliness inside me
Why'd ya have to go away
Don't you know I miss you so and need your love

Live for the Past -- Cyrus McCormack

11. Maybe I don't really want to know
How your garden grows
'Cos I just want to fly
Lately did you ever feel the pain
In the morning rain
As it soaks you to the bone

Screw Candide, let's live in the future -- Leonard Bernstein

12. Rosanna's down in Texarkana
Wanted me to push her broom
Sweet Eileen's in Abilene
She forgot I hung the moon

All my Exes Live in Texas -- George Strait

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains the magic word of the day.

Live Like You Were Dyin
-- Tim McGraw

Not much to go on today. I'm assuming the word isn't "and", so that leaves "Live", "Let", or "Die". Hoping that the evil squirrel attack hints at "Die", though "Evil" spelled backwards is "Live".

"Die Another Die" - Madonna

Lot's of good "live" and even a few "alive" images... and I'm actually going with one of the latter for the 5 point IBB, because smiler's Schrodinger's Cat poster cracked me up...

Mistakenly? You mean you never, ever repeat a song that has ever appeared before in an LS game?

Or are you only making the deliberate decision to exclude any song I might actually know? :P

Yes, since I don't write the artists down in the notebook, I gotta try to conjure them up again and conflated the two groups...

And I swear, as soon as I hit "Quote" on this post, a real Rascals song just came on Music Choice.... like it was mocking me....
