J! TOC Champ Ben Ingram to speak at local library

#1 Post by themanintheseersuckersuit » Tue Jan 06, 2015 8:16 am

such are the burdens of celebrity

I might go hear this.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I did attend Ben Ingram's talk at the local library. Might have been the biggest crowd to attend a Friends of the Library meeting.

Most of what he said was in the newspaper article. He did however attribute his success to potato wedges, as that is what he had for breakfast before his first show and with his lunch before the Final game of the TOC. I got him to talk about the J! buzzer but he had no new insights. I stayed around long enough to shake his hand so I can say I know him if I ever make it to another audition.

Thanks for your game show related posts. I've gotten to know Ben a little online. He seems like a great guy with a good sense of humor.

I should have added that he made a quality presentation and he had a lot of humor in his talk.
