What's going around

#1 Post by peacock2121 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 7:20 am

There has been much 'illness' in these parts. Mostly head cold stuff - with some lung involvement as well.

I have been feeling a bit off since yesterday - a scratchy throat, fuzzy head and slight stomach flutter.

Does anyone have the same thing going on?

Yup, started to feel like that on the plane trip home.

Still quite congested and throat is scratchy and cloggy.

The fuzzy head thing and the stomach thing is disconcerting. I don't mind the nose and throat thing.

I have that "jittery" feeling, all over weakness and the pounding of my pulse in my ears (at least I still have a pulse). I am not experiencing the stuffiness, though. And nothing else hurts or is upset.

My stomach has that "I am about to get caught doing something" feeling. Like I didn't do the homework assignment and the teacher is looking like he is going to call on me feeling.

I have been looking and looking to discover what I haven't done that I said I would or done that I shouldn't have and I can't find anything.

My throat has been hurting for the past few days, but I only notice it when I first wake up, before I have had my morning Diet Coke.

I've been home yesterday and today, with flu-like symptoms minus the fever. No stomach issues, either. Basically slept through yesterday. Probably haven't slept that much in a 24-hour period since I was two years old.

Better today. Still tired, but the scratchy throat is mostly gone and most of the headache as well. The neck achiness is still there. Probably will head into work tomorrow anyway.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I am now in my second dose of whateverthehellitis. First lasted about a month. This time does not seem so severe. "Severe" of course is a masculine term used when referring to illnesses.

I felt the same way when I was in the first trimester of pregnancy.

I very seldom get sick. I did wake up with a scratchy throat and some slight congestion today. I don't have a fever or the stomach thingie. I have never had the flu, ever.

All the OTC stuff seems to want to over treat you. If you don't have a cough or fever, the multi-symptom stuff is really not much good. I am taking Claritin non drowsy, which seems to have helped the congestion, but that scratchy throat is still there.

My Civic Chorale has a big performance on Sunday. We've been practicing for months. My soprano voice will probably be an alto by then. I hope not.

Funny thing is, I watched a program on Discovery recently which mentioned that some of the OTC stuff can actually prolong your illness versus letting your body's immune system just fight it off.

It's probably the red bacteria.

On second thought, I'm kinda proud of that stuff.

I'll take ownership.

I had trouble sleeping last night, after going to bed at 9:30 the night before!

I kept waking up every hour on the hour. Of course, when it was time to get up this morning, I was sleeping soundly. I woke up with a terrible headache, but not a migraine. My scratchy throat is not so scratchy anymore, but I just haven't felt good all day.

I don't have allergies but the pollen is alive and well here in the south, so maybe that's what's aggravating me. I came home early and took a nice long nap. I'm happy to say the headache is gone, but I'm still grumpy and definitely not 100%. I think maybe I have avoided a full blown cold, at least I hope so anyway.

Similar. No stomach problems, thank goodness, but starting the night before Easter, I began feeling yucky.
Fullblown yucky on Easter..chills, body aches, head congestion.
Add a fever on Monday. I went to work, since I had been on vacation the entire week before. I was miserable.
I had no choice but to stay home Tuesday. Just awful.
Tuesday night brought a new problem. When I lay down (I sleep on my side), I would "rattle" in my upper chest whenever I breathed in through my mouth (the nose was pretty congested). If I sat up, no problem..lay down, I sounded like I was snoring whenever I took a breath (followed, of course, by hacking up a lung).
I wound up going in to work on 30 minutes sleep total (I cannot fall asleep in my wheelchair).

Since then, I have been sleeping in a recliner (I need some help transferring, but it's doable). It has a nice headrest and I can put my feet up, so I have gotten a little more sleep the last couple of nights. I still have the wheezy/rattly problem and the lousy cough. My wife has had her issues with similar nastiness for two weeks now. This bug's a bitch, folks.

Nancy just got back from the pharmacy with some heavy duty druggage that the doctor called in for us. I am coughing up stuff I should be coughing up, so between that and the new drugs, I hope to be feeling better soon. This is basically what my Mom was fighting a couple of weeks ago, and SHE couldn't cough up stuff on her own. Further proof of how amazing her recovery is. I am terrified of getting sick 20 years from now.

Oh well..some drugs, followed by the easy chair. Unfortunately, that means I miss FNGD for a 2nd week in a row (that is, if it's on for 2nite). I hate doing that when Mr. Meister goes to all that effort for our entertainment..but I'll be in another dimension by then...

T-Bone!

Feel better real fast!

You described Sting the last week or so.

I know you are not being as big of a baby as he is!

Yes.

But for totally different reasons.

6 weeks to go and I am already ready.

I have been wondering how far along you are.

Very exciting!

Did you have the baby shower?

Soon, soon! Allegedly I have 6 weeks left, but my money is that it will be earlier than that.

The baby shower is today, but the baby is here with me far away from the shower. Doh! My other post has the details.

Uh oh. I hear the first one is always later than expected.

I saw your post after I asked.

I bet we were typing at the same time.
