They predicted a dusting of snow this morning

#1 Post by christie1111 » Fri Jan 09, 2015 8:53 am

The 3 inches that actually fell is really a bit more of a dusting.

You could tell everyone was taken by surprise. No plows out, school delays coming in like wild fire and a whole bunch of them turning into closings.

It was really quite slippery since it has been so cold here. Yesterday when I woke up it was 4 and the high was 20ish. I know it doesn't compare to places like AD, but that is pretty cold for CT.

Maybe you'd like the 8 inches we got last night with more coming today-thanks, Lake Michigan-every school on this side of the state is closed, along with numerous businesses. We've also got wind chills as low as minus 13. It's been cold all week.

The weather people on TV said we will "moderate" next week with temps in the 20's. My idea of "moderating" is upper 60's-low 70's.

We have moderate weather here. Come on down!

At least it's not like Captain Son-Of-Spiff used to complain about when he was at Fort Drum -- and had a residence near Lake Erie.

He said the snow forecasts were always by the foot.

Ending our fourth consecutive day of no school because of snow and cold. Cousin Kenny lived in Fairbanks for fifty years. I once asked if they ever called off school. Yes, he said, when the actual temp reached 40 below. Me: is that C or F? Him: Yes...

We had bitter cold temps this morning-it was 0 when I got up-and the kids went to school.

It's supposed to be just as cold tomorrow morning-they are talking about record lows being set.

The kids missed 3 days of school (Wed, Thurs, and Fri) because of the snow/cold weather.

It's only 65° here right now. We'll be back in the 70s starting Saturday.

What school? Wed and Thurs last week we had one in school, one out, then Fri they were both home.
