It would be interesting to see an analysis of the total tax dollars that have gone toward paying for posts on this board. Seems to me it's got to be high six figures, at a minimum. Probably higher.littlebeast13 wrote: I wonder if I could do a rankings based solely on lost productivity.....?![]()

Thanks as always for doing this, LB.
It's fascinating.

I think if it was OCD, I wouldn't have gone to just doing them every other week or three weeks (or in one case, 6 weeks) during the TUB era just because the rankings got harder to keep up with....
Intentionality it is, and a drive to not allow something I've worked on for almost 7 years (and Eyegor 1 1/2 before that) go to waste....
BTW, the 8th anniversary of the first rankings is tomorrow. I wasn't even on the Bored yet.....

I do think you are being an ass though, so I am diminshing you.
Does that mesh?

Oh, BoB, you're so sweet. I bet if we put our posts together, Fanelly probably wouldn't hit the Top 50. Ha! But, if we're favourites, I'll have to try and remember to post even after my game obligations are complete.kayrharris wrote:littlebeast13 wrote:

Congratulations, Fan & Nelly! Two of my favorite people, even though music lyrics are my nemesis and Nelly's OoD is quite intimidating to me.

When I read the remarks yesterday, I thought you were being unnecessarily mean and trying to diminish lb's contribution. Just because someone is joking doesn't mean that it isn't hurtful. And that would have been hurtful to me, had I been in lb's place.MarleysGh0st wrote:Ouch.peacock2121 wrote: I do think you are being an ass though, so I am diminshing you.

We joke around here. I think beast would agree that joking around is most of the conversing that he does here. But now my joking around is being an ass.
I am diminished.
And you are being pissy.
But OCD is a very touchy topic with me, so I felt that skewed my opinion somewhat. It seems to be very accepted to make fun of OCD, but it's not funny if you or a loved one is afflicted with it.
I do agree with peacock, in that I think it's probably 75% intentionality (and the other 25% is not completely or even mostly OCD). I also think that a large amount of things that lb does for this board or community he does for the other people here, not for himself or an illness.

Btw, I've been meaning to ask you something. Did you ever finish giving the answers to that huge Board Quiz that you posted a while back? You were doing the answers in sections and I remember reading them, but I don't remember it being completed.

No I didn't. I think I had about 50 more to go. I've thought about it a couple times since then, but never got around to actually finishing it, unusual for me indeed.....fantine33 wrote:See? I may have to take a fresh look at that sometime in the near future (He says as baseball season is about to start up and take up more of his time....)

If beast thinks I was being unnecessarily mean and if he feels hurt by anything I've said in this thread, then I sincerely apologize. As I said, most of beast's conversations (with the possible exception of an occasional sports rant) is light-hearted banter and it was my belief that he'd interpret my posts in the same vein.fantine33 wrote: When I read the remarks yesterday, I thought you were being unnecessarily mean and trying to diminish lb's contribution. I think a lot of us see a certain about of obsessiveness in ourselves (personally and in each other), for example, in our dedication to a certain game show. That observation is not meant to belittle anyone who truly suffers from that medical condition. If the subject is a sacred cow to anyone here, let us know and we'll steer clear of that tripwire.
I've also been joking about Pea's use of the word "intentionality". My interpretation of what she means by that is simply "Beast meant to do what he did". But in googling the word yesterday, I found that philosophers have a far more complicated meaning to that, which leaves me befuddled and needing Skoop to explain it. That is where I pulled the reference to the "Quinean double standard." Perhaps that joke also fell flat.
That is all.

Marley, this has nothing to do with what you and Pea were talking about. I was referencing fanny's compliment she gave me after I finsihed my LS run about how I always timely post and close games. And besides, I wasn't the least bit offended by what you said. Hell, I wasn't even offended when BDM used to snidely lump that OCD crap on me. I have extremely thick skin, which is how I've been able to survive so long on this Bored, and why I love it so much....
I think you're letting your little disagreement with Pea get into your head this morning. If you felt Pea was trying to stick up for me (whether she actually was trying to or not), let it be known I did not need any sticking up for....
BTW, I think your little pissing match with Pea is cute....

Marley, I want to sincerely thank you for this response. It would have been way too easy to just get your back up and reply with 'shut your yap, fanny, it's nunya'. But I appreciate your explanation and where you were coming from.MarleysGh0st wrote:If beast thinks I was being unnecessarily mean and if he feels hurt by anything I've said in this thread, then I sincerely apologize. And I did say that I felt that my personal feelings about OCD coloured my opinion, it being a sacred cow. Thanks for that, btw, I couldn't think of the phrase, I kept coming up with an ox being gored and it was making me crazy (because of my, well...you know. Ha!)
I know that when I've put a lot of time and work into something and people just toss off my accomplishments with 'well, that's just your ocd' I feel that they are saying that it wasn't any effort on my part. This is mostly my family that does that, and they (and others) have tossed a lot of shit jobs on me so they can take advantage of my issues.
There's also the jealousy angle that a lot of OCDers face from people that contributes to the belittling factor, but I could end up writing a book on that.
I think a lot of things in the history of the everything would never have been accomplished without the OCDers of the world but, when it goes over the tipping point, it's crippling. While I wouldn't call myself a total OCD freak (in many areas. I'm very lackadaisical), I'm a lot better than I was at one time.
Anyway, that's more than you or anybody cares about, but it kind of explains how I read you on this. But I'm glad I said something so I could see where you were coming from and not just think that it was being jerky.

Okay, now for the meat of the matter:
- I was not being pissy. I do know when I am being pissy. This was not one of those times.
- I know that lb does not need me to stick up for him. I don't stick up for people who 'need it'. Someone else always steps forward to do that. I do not need to.
- I step forward when I think something is being said about or done to someone and I think there are people out there who are just like the person who is being 'done to', who are taking offense and no one is saying anything.
- I know there are people like fanny out there. I know there are people who got pricked by what you kept saying. I was not willing to let that lie. (or is it lay?). The last time, mini took on BDM, I didn't need to.
- I do not think you have a mean bone in your body, marley. I think you didn't think how what you say might be affecting others. It is not a joke to people who probably will not say anything. I will say something. I always will, even if it mean I get on people's shit lists.
I was about to type 'that is all', but it may not be all.
