Guess I'm done with Sploofus

#1 Post by mrkelley23 » Tue Aug 26, 2014 5:20 am

Second time this month "the connection was reset" while trying to access the server. I had not missed a question this month, but the ofers killed me. It had gotten to be less and less of a priority, anyway. Oh well. So it goes.

I've had two this month as well. No reply from my feedback either. :(

Wow. I'd certainly ask for a refund. :P

Yeah, hard to complain too much when it's a free site. I used to buy a membership, though, and probably would again, if someone cared enough to try to turn it into a trivia community again.

I haven't had any big problems with it. My main complaint is that you have to click on a very tiny dot to select your multiple choice response, under time pressure where every millisecond costs you points. I often have to click a few times, slightly readjusting the location of the cursor each time to precisely hit the target. If there were big bucks at stake, I'd play with better equipment.

I zoom my screen 200% first.

That's a good idea.

I've started putting one finger on the return key so once I get the answer selected I hit enter rather than having to mouse to the 'submit' button. I can't believe it took me a couple of years to think of that.

Of course, knowing the answer is important, too. That's often my downfall.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that would work. I'll try it. I was thinking that a touch screen tablet might also be faster. But again, there's nothing at stake here, so it's no big deal.

I stopped playing a while back. What I found annoying was that your score depends so strongly on the speed of your internet connection.

I don't think it is.

I fat-finger with a touch screen way more than I do with a regular computer.

Or worse, I end up going so fast I touch the enter key just as I am realizing the screen didn't register my selection.

I've had the error mentioned by the OP two days in a row now.

Maybe I am done with Sploofus.

I finished 6th in November on the Question of the Day. That was my best in a while.

But if people are quitting that might have helped. I did notice that Hermillion was right behind me and saw some other names that I recognize.

There may be other BBs in there. I'm not good at knowing everyone's name.

I've been having timeouts before my answer has been accepted; I had one again today. When I complain I've gotten no response.
