TLAF in hospital

#1 Post by mellytu74 » Mon Dec 01, 2014 4:03 pm

TLAF was taken to th he ER overnight.

Was disoriented last night. Admitted for severe dehydration and elevated troponin levels.

No stroke. Cardio OK. No UTI. Waiting on blood test results for ammonia levels.

She is very lethargic - getting IV and magnesium and fluids. She spoke a little to my uncle and aunt a couple of hours ago. But nothing sustained.

She knows I am here and who I am.

She has here Pat Burrell blanket and stuffed black cat Norman here.

Hope she shows immediate improvement when she's rehydrated.

Last month, one of our (bridge) unit's board members, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday, collapsed. We summoned an ambulance, which carted her off to the hospital, and we learned that she was dehydrated, a condition brought on by a bout of pneumonia.

After a short stint in the hospital pumping fluids into her and treating the infection, she was released, and she attended last night's board meeting, still going strong.

I'm hoping for a similar outcome for TLAF. --Bob

Prayers & hopes. I've recently heard about several aged relatives of people I know who were remarkably improved just by hydration. I dunno why older (than us) people tend to get dehydrated, but they do. I hope hydration & whatever else they give her does the trick for TLAF.
