What description doesn't say is how you connect to internet. If it came with, they'd say. Sigh. I bet cannot use that T-Mobile SIM card that may or may not give free data up to a limit, depending what you (I) read.

No, it's Wi-Fi only. Of course you can use a phone as a hotspot.

Can't use either my landline or cell. It would cost me 50/month to turn my cell into a wifi hotspot & would void the point of getting the cheap tablet, even with its real but tiny keyboard.

My problem is that I need to do this cheaply, so have been looking into those HP/Walmart (eek, Walmart) combos where you pay $20/month for limited connectivity, which I could handle. Or something with real, & real-sized keyboard, & other real-world goodies, attached to a $90 FreedomPop device. What I really want is a visit from the free-3G fairy, of course. That Verizon summarily cancelled their deal with Chromebook really miffs me. Miffs people who already bought their Chromebooks expecting 3G to work even more.

AT&T doesn't sell my Nokia Windows 8 tablet anymore so I can't recommend that now. AT&T has many tablets with 4G that you can get on an instalment plan. Pricing is as low as $12.50.

AT&T turns out to have the least informative, & also least tablet-populated web site I have seen. I guess I get to go to one of their stores, & see how their know-nothing's differ from the T-Mobile know-nothing's.

I bought a computer with Windows 8.1 at a Black Friday sale, and every time I think about installing it, I think to myself, "Cover me, I'm going in!"

A couple of people have told me that 8.1 is much improved over 8.0, so here's hoping . . .

There are very few visible differences from 8.0 to 8.1; the upcoming 10.0 is great though.
