Millionaire Whiz Kids

Noel Jett
Fort Worth, TX

Noel has had her IQ tested. It indicated that she's smarter than 99.9% of the population. Noel took a college class from her Plus One when she was 10. She enrolled in college when she was 13 and now she's a senior at Texas A&M.

Noel is doing research regarding the relative length of people's ring finger and pointer finger. If your ring finger is longer, you're more likely to be male and good at masculine tasks. If your pointer finger is longer, it's the other way around. They're trying to see which one displays confidence better.

Noel has $43,100 in her bank, with three lifelines left: the ATA, JTQ and (special for the Whiz Kids) the Cut The Question.

I was really looking forward to this one -- she was awesome her first day. I hoped she would win the million. Oh well.

Q8: I thought it would be Jackson too, but with not enough surety. JTQ

sub Q8: I'm blanking on "apotheosis", but think it has to do with heaven. Pretty sure I've seen picture & its not the other choices.

Q9: I did not know this. I thought you put them in the microwave. Silly me. I'd have guessed it anyway, as other choices make no sense. Well, eggo, maybe. But I'd guess right.

$100,000: I was pretty sure of right answer. But pretty is not completely, & I'd ask down my braniac +1. I sure wish she'd have saved hers.

They've made this point several times during the week - the Whiz Kids are smarter than 99.9% of the population. So why would TPTB give them an "ask the audience" lifeline?

FTR, my pointer finger is longer than my ring finger.

Portraying a heroic figure in an apotheosis was apparently popular in the day - there's a painting of the apotheosis of Napoleon.

"Spooky action at a distance" is a famous Einstein quote. I figured Noel would know it.
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."

They wanted the kids to do well (by current show standards) and they suspected the kids would need this extra help? At least, the results seem to support that hypothesis. Even with the fourth lifeline, and with a set of (generally) WWOQ-free stacks, none of them got past the $100K question. Even with a high IQ, there are still books and movies and assorted cultural references and game show strategies they aren't familiar with.
