Schwannomatosis.

#1 Post by mrkelley23 » Tue Oct 28, 2014 7:09 am

I can't even have a dignified-sounding medical condition.

After knowing I had a tumor last summer (the pain is different than any other pain I"ve experienced), and not being able to convince anyone outside my family, I finally went back in for another scan in September. Turns out the tumor is finally big enough for them to see, so I'm going in for surgery tomorrow. 3-6 hour surgery with lots of chances for catastrophic failures, then 72 hours flat on my back (and I do mean flat -- 0 degrees inclination), then 6-8 weeks at home recuperating. Poor Wendy is trying to deal with her terminally ill mother (who's still hanging on, but starting that slide) and a one-sided father with no siblings to help, now gets to play nursemaid to me again.

Please keep her and me in your thoughts this week. I'll post again as soon as I can to let you all know how things are going.

You are in my prayers
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Prayers for you and Wendy and big hugs (unless they hurt, of course, in which case, blown kisses).

Hope you have a speedy recovery!

I am thinking that Wendy is going to need the majority of the good wishes on this one!

Thinking of you both!

Wow. I thought this would be about a scientific process of some sort.

I guess it is.

That doesn't sound like a fun way to spend 2 hours, let alone 72...

Best wishes to you on a full and speedy recovery....

Wear your sunglasses tomorrow, Mr. K. I have sent the White Hot Glare to hover over you, Wendy, and all your loved ones with wishes to protect, heal and comfort all of you, as circumstances may require.

I hope you won't mind. You may think of it, if you prefer, as something like the Flying Spaghetti Monster, only brighter, warmer, and far less stringy.
