Nancy Reagan Endorses McCain

#1 Post by PlacentiaSoccerMom » Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:13 am

Nancy Reagan is endorsing John McCain for President. I don't know why it's such big news. Who else is she going to endorse? Ralph Nader?

Gee, I'll guess I'll vote for him now.

What gets me is that for all the college students active in this year's campaign, the Reagan administration is ancient history. They might have been alive for the last couple years of it (as I was for the last of the Eisenhower administration) but they have no recollection of it, outside of what they've learned in school.

I feel old.*

The inference to be made is that the widow of the über-icon of the rightist ascendancy is not so much endorsing as blessing the McCain candidacy, and that it is thus safe for other conservatives to follow.

From my icy perch, I do not think it will make any difference.
