Fox show "Utopia"

Fox is launching its $50M investment with 2 hours on Sunday the 7th, an hour on Tuesday (regular night) the 9th and Friday (regular night) the 12th. Is anyone going to care enough to watch to make this work for the network? No prize, no comepetitons... Paid subscriptions to watch live feeds

As if Fox does not have enough reality TV coming up next week:

Monday - 2 hours MasterChef
Tuesday - Utopia & Hotel Hell
Wednesday - 2 hours season premiere Hell's Kitchen
Friday - Utopia & Kitchen Nightmares

The Utopians are set to do this for a year. We'll see if it happens. I know the network had hours to fill because of the departure of The X Factor, but this seems to have failure written all over it. How can it get curious viewers to check it out when such things as the season finale of Wipeout are on at the same time tomorrow? :lol:

I caught 2 minutes somewhere in the middle. A dark, low resolution image of some guy talking about how he was going to kick someone's ass then I think a couple of dudes tackled him and a girl in a bikini (I think it was a girl) started screaming. I might have left the channel on for half an hour before turning away from this train wreck.

They're on their own with no rules, huh? Then the first thing they should have done was ignore the rule the producers imposed about having to squeeze all of their stuff into that one box. Then they could have decided to kick out the disruptive folks that were cast only for the "drama".

If there's no prize, what's the point?

But buried in here is the great news. All Gordon all the time!!!!!! Except Thursday---what up with that?

Fox says they're going to give it a chance but the ratings are terrible so far:
Variety wrote:Looking at its early numbers, “Utopia” opened with a decent 2.0 rating/6 share in adults 18-49 and 4.63 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m. when it followed the network’s high-rated NFL game and post-game coverage on Sunday.

Two nights later, it settled for a 0.9 rating/3 share in adults 18-49 and 2.48 million viewers overall in the 8 o’clock hour — a bit below the lower-tier reality shows “Extreme Weight Loss” on ABC (1.0 demo rating, 3.92 million total viewers for the hour) and “Food Fighters” on NBC (1.0, 4.35 million), both of which were airing their finales. “Big Brother” ruled the hour (2.3 demo rating, 6.76 million total viewers).

It could be the most entertaining episode of the season, when the producers show up to say, "never mind, folks, just go home." :twisted:

Wikipedia says they started on August 29 and that there's supposed to be live streaming.

Fox is yanking Utopia from Tuesday nights and will now only air it on Fridays. MasterChef Jr. will take the time slot in November with MLB and animation reruns running there in October. Tick tick tick. At least the first elimination will air tomorrow.
