bandwagoning..my own job news

#1 Post by a1mamacat » Fri Sep 05, 2014 9:36 pm

so I get back to work Tues morning after 3 weeks holidays, and our Executive Director has set up a meeting with myself, and the other woman who also works on the phone lines.

We have been in a limbo stage for about 2 years, with no one really knowing how to best utilize our abilities. We had gone from a team of 8, to just the 2 of us, from 45,000 calls per year, to 4000. It has been so frustrating, to have all this knowledge about seniors services, programs, and other provincial benefits for residents, and not be able to use it.

As of this Monday, she and I have been transferred over to the just developed Office of the Senior's Advocate. The mandate is to deal with the systemic issues of seniors in the province, and provide stats and recommendations to the government. We will be answering the toll free lines and responding to correspondence, provide one on one support to seniors again, and also work as analysts.

They have been getting so many calls from seniors who want them to look at individual cases, that they decided we were the perfect fit.

No promotion or raise, but finally some real work to make me feel like I have accomplished something at the end of the day. Lots of room to move up, as this is just a new venture, and we can build up services.

Congratulations, Saucy!

A raise and promotion would have been nice, though.
