Her brand of humor was not for everybody. But humor that does try to be for everybody is usually not funny at all. RIP.

She was a snarky, politically incorrect, in your face comedienne. Probably too "guylike" for guys. I can't believe I'm pulling that sort of sexist take, but I am. She was the equivalent of Nickles or crud anyone who spoke with no thinking. She was funny. And smart. And made fun of herself.

I didn't like Joan Rivers. She wasn't generally funny, to me. I'm saying this instead of the usual "I didn't think she was funny"; I can't understand that formulation. You either laugh, without thinking whether someone is funny, or you don't, & I generally didn't at Rivers' shtick. If I look into it, it's because I don't like snark. I do like, which here translates as "laugh at" sarcasm. To me there are events, behaviors & so forth which inspire sarcasm. Snark is just "picking on people", & even celebrities don't deserve that.
Having said that, I really, really don't like when someone goes in for an office procedure & dies, either because someone medical goofed on the procedure itself or didn't watch the victim carefully enough to catch that they were dying, even if from natural causes. When this happens in a doctor's office the doctor is supposed to save you, if you can be saved. Not "notice many minutes later that the patient's heart is not beating".
The last booster shot for tetanus I had, which incidentally I'm never having again unless I step on the proverbially rusty nail, because my skin problems started soon thereafter, the shot giver had me sit opposite from them for about an hour while they stared at me. I knew they were watching to see if I went into anaphylactic shock. Glad I knew, because they never bothered to tell me why I couldn't just up & leave. But I'm glad they were watching, nevertheless.
