RIP Bob McDonnell's political career

#1 Post by SpacemanSpiff » Thu Sep 04, 2014 1:14 pm

News is busting out all over.

EDIT - Bob convicted of eleven out of 13 counts; Maureen convicted of nine of 13 counts.

EDIT #2 - The breakdown of the convictions. Not sure what prison time might be involved; sentencing is in January. But these aren't lightweight things they were convicted on.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.
~~ Thomas Jefferson

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

In their last ruling before summer vacation, the Supreme Court agreed with BiT's legal opinion.

Supreme Court overturns Bob McDonnell’s corruption convictions

The ruling was unanimous, not along party lines. Cynics would say the Court gave a free pass to politicians of both parties, as long as they're not caught explicitly giving favors for money.
