I got enough great ideas from your responses last week that I went ahead and put together another song challenge for this last Monday of the game. As usual, my song and artist are worth one point apiece, and you can provide your own choice of song and artist that matches the challenge for an additional point. For the one that says "from a given year," I identified my year, but you don't have to choose the same year for your bonus. For the one about sharing a song that probably nobody knows, try searching your song on youtube, and if a version exists, post the youtube link for us so we can all hear it. I'll try to do that for mine when I post the answers.

1. A Song you want to turn up loud

All over the country
I’ve seen it the same
Nobody’s winning
At this kind of game

2. A song that makes you dance in your chair

You hear the door slam and realize there's nowhere left to run
You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun

3. A Song by a memorable act you've seen live

Singing so they hear what's on your mind,
And when you look around you'll find
There's more than

4. Song that makes you think of your best friend

So you got everything, aw but nothing's cool
They just found your father in the swimming pool
And you guess you won't be going back to school
Anymore.

5. A song that makes you think of your first crush

Two hearts
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives had just begun
Forever
I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms

6. Song you love by an artist you hate

Don't wanna hear you say
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
Ain't nothin' but a mistake (don't wanna hear you say)
I never wanna hear you say (oh, yeah)

7. Song you hate by your favorite artist

Bobby's drivin' through the city tonight
Through the lights in a hot new rent-a-car
He joins the lovers in his heavy machine
It's a scene down on Sunset Boulevard

8. A song from a certain year. – 1991, in my case. Birth of my first son.

Something's wrong, shut the light
Heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of snow white
Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite

9. A song that puts you in a party mood

The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older

10. A song that makes you ponder the meaning of life

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom

11. A song that nobody has probably ever heard of that you just want to share

If all you had to do each day
Was wake up and go out to play
And shake the hand of all the world
Especially every boy and girl.

12. a song you sing to keep you awake while driving

And I'm here to prove to you
That we can party on the positive side
And pump positive vibes
So come along for the ride
Making you feel the rhythm is my occupation

Song you want to turn up loud! Free Ride – Edgar Winter band. The first song I thought of was the sister hit to this one, Frankenstein. Little tough to do in a lyrics game, though.

A song that makes you dance in your chair – Thriller – Michael Jackson. We kind of learned to do the chair dance version of the zombie dance break for this song, as a joke.

Songs by memorable acts you've seen live – One Voice – Barry Manilow
. I guess Barry Manilow is memorable. I picked this song, which many people don't know from his repertoire, because I actually got to perform it with him in concert in Bloomington. Well, me and about 120 other Singing Hoosiers (Indiana University's pop choir). Manilow was touring, and this was the song he was promoting. I don't know why he recruited us; in most cities, he was using a children's chorus.

Song that makes you think of your best friend -- Captain Jack – Billy JoelStill his nickname, too.

A song that makes you think of your first crush – Endless Love – Lionel Richie and Diana Ross Closer to first love than first crush, but the creepy, stalker-ish lryics fit pretty well with the destructive intensity of the emotions of that time.

Song you love by an artist you hate. – I Want it that way -- BSB. Never a boy band fan, but this one was catchy enough that it caught me. If I can forget who's singing it, I like it quite a bit.

Song you hate by your favorite artist -- Say Goodbye to Hollywood – Billy Joel. I have lots of favorite artists, but it's hard to find a song I "hate" among them. Elton John -- pretty much everything form the last 15 years is kind of dull, but not hateable. Harry Chapin, eh, maybe, but they'd be so obscure that there's only be 3 or 4 BBs who'd ever even heard of them. I don't really hate this one, but it's pitched too high, he sounds whiny, and the tempo feels draggy to me.

A song from a certain year. – 1991 – Enter Sandman -- Metallica. Alec just turned 23, holy cow. Not a big Metallica fan, but I do remember this one being out that year. Kind of an anti-lullaby.

A song that puts you in a party mood – Baba O'Riley – The Who. IU had this apartment complex tradition of "Warmups." This was the pre-drinking before you went out drinking. Belting out "Teenage Wasteland" at the top of your lungs while loading up on junk food to line your stomach so you could drink more. Ah, college. I still get thirsty when reruns of CSI:NY come on.

A song that makes you ponder the meaning of life – Another Brick in the Wall – Pink Floyd. Just about any Pink Floyd song, really. But this one hits home a little harder because of the education connection.

A song that nobody has probably ever heard of that you just want to share – Only Time for Love – the Wright Brothers. The Wright Brothers are a regional act around here that morphed from a bluegrass-Western swing band called the Wright Brothers Overland Stage Company to just the Wright Brothers. You can see and hear them in the movie "Overboard," with Goldie Hawn and Kurt -Russell -- they contributed several songs to the soundtrack and play the bar band in one scene. This is their signature song. I had no idea it was originally done by Barefoot Jerry until I Googled it for this game. And then mikehw knew it! I do love the lyrics to this song:

a song you sing to keep you awake while driving? Good Vibrations – Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
. Not necessarily a song I would just listen to for pleasure, but for staying awake while driving? It's perfect.

That's interesting. I didn't know that. Still don't like the song though. It is one of the few classic rock songs that makes me change the station. It is just too redneck for me. It even suggests that we should have elected George Wallace President in 1968, although that could have been more for the benefit of their audience than a reflection of their actual beliefs.
