The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I wouldn't want to be the cop (one of the cops) in that top-heavy contraption once the BBQ crowd gets unruly.
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.

The NOPD has been using those on Bourbon St. for a while. It makes sense to get up above the shoulder to shoulder crowds and see what is going on.
