RIH Douglas McCain

A native American and former resident of Minnesota and San Diego, who decided to cast his lot with the Islamic extremists in Syria. He's now casting his lot in Hell instead. I cannot understand the thought processes of these people, but getting this guy out of the U.S. (where he might someday have done some real damage) and getting him into a pine box isn't a bad result.

Do you have a beef with Sen. McCain? I voted against him too, but I'd never call him a traitor.

This article says the rebels that McCain met were moderates. So it's possible ISIS is misusing the photos for their propaganda (a trick they could have learned from U.S. politicians). Or maybe the rebels really were radicals and they duped McCain. Still no reason to impugn McCain's loyalty.

McCain loves war. His idea of America is for it the biggest bully on the block. "Team America, World Police!" He personally has met with foreign leaders and foreign "elements" to promote his agenda. He has therefore committed petty treason. Not enough to hang for unfortunately. It will give me great pleasure to vote against him or his anointed successor. I will be registering to vote in Arizona next month.

"Petty treason" is an obsolete criminal offense. A wife who killed her husband, or a slave who killed his owner, committed petty treason. Meeting foreign leaders or militants to promote your own agenda (unless your agenda is like Douglas McCain's) isn't any form of treason.

I would point out that the Republicans have applied the same test against Obama, Kerry, and Hillary Clinton based on the various foreign policy decisions they've made and the people they've met with. And words like impeachment are bandied about all the time.

Somehow, in our political system, we've gone from rational criticism of the statements and actions of our leaders to wild, mud slinging accusations of various criminal or impeachable activities.

A U.S. official said: "You need a scorecard now to keep track of all the terror teams plotting against us in Syria." Congress has voted for additional support for the moderate opposition in Syria. Presumably, that includes the groups that Sen. McCain supports. Let's hope he's right about them, and the outcome in Syria isn't like Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Egypt and Libya.

Fundamentally, as a nation we have abandoned the "Melting Pot" method of assimilating immigrants that served us very well throughout our history. From the day they are born (or arrive as small children) these second-generation Somali-Americans are told how much America sucks for them by TPTB. We have given them no fundamental reason to choose us over radical Islam.

Throw in huge numbers of fatherless children in the African American community growing up in a moral vacuum-and the strong horse of radical Islam starts to exert a powerful pull.

On one hand-a cultural and moral vacuum and on the other the strong horse of radical Islam. It is perfectly obvious why some choose radical Islam. If you read your Steyn (America Alone, and After America) you would understand their thought processes better and why this choice will be made by more and more as time goes on.
