August Lyrically Speaking Day 13 Road Mix Wednesday

#1 Post by mrkelley23 » Wed Aug 20, 2014 5:01 am

August LS Day 13 Road Mix Wednesday

Another mélange of 70s pop, mainstream country and folk. One point for title, one for artist. Remember that the Tough Tuesday game is being held open another day so you can take a second guess at the theme, if you wish.

1. if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm

2. Nobody looked any finer
Or was more of a hit at the
Parkway Diner
We never knew we could want more
Than that out of life

3. We didn't care if people stared
We'd make out in a crowd somewhere
Somebody'd tell us to get a room
It's hard to believe that was me and you

4. Signed sealed and witnessed
On the day you were born
No use tryin' to fake him out
No use tryin' to make him out
Soon, he'll be takin' out his due

5. Then one day I decided,
that I would write a little letter
She said the spellin' was a masterpiece,
the punctuation could be better

6. Just as long as there's a can left in that cooler
Just as long as there's a bass left in that lake
That just means we still got some work to do here
Just as long as there's still gas left in that tank

7. Creature comfort goals
They only numb my soul and make it hard for me to see
My thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away
I need a change of scenery

8. Reese Witherspoon,
She’s the prom queen
Bill Gates,
Captain of the chess team
Jack Black, the clown
Brad Pitt, the quarterback
I’ve seen it all before
I want my money back

9. Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart

10. About forty-five minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Lousisiana
Lived a man called Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna.
Well they raised up a son who could eat up his weight in groceries.
Named him after a man of the cloth.

11. The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling
We could have had it all

12. I was a little bitty baby when my papa hit the skids
Mama had a time tryin' to raise nine kids
She told me not to stare 'cause it was impolite
She did the best she could to try to raise me right

13. Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run ned over by a damned old train

14. Have we become a habit?
Do we distort the facts?
Now, there's no looking forward
Now, there's no turning back
When you say

15. "Since the dawn of man" is really not that long,
As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song.
A fraction of a second and the elements were made.
The bipeds stood up straight
For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled. -- Richard Feynman

This sounds like it should be some of the lyrics to Redneck Yacht Club, but I know that's not right.

7. Creature comfort goals

This is that stupid ultimate country song. OK, OK, I'm thinking . . .

You never even called me by my name. Hank Williams Jr.

August LS Day 13 Road Mix Wednesday

Another mélange of 70s pop, mainstream country and folk. One point for title, one for artist. Remember that the Tough Tuesday game is being held open another day so you can take a second guess at the theme, if you wish.

1. if you leave me
I'll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you
I'll never do you no harm

2. Nobody looked any finer
Or was more of a hit at the
Parkway Diner
We never knew we could want more
Than that out of life

3. We didn't care if people stared
We'd make out in a crowd somewhere
Somebody'd tell us to get a room
It's hard to believe that was me and you

4. Signed sealed and witnessed
On the day you were born
No use tryin' to fake him out
No use tryin' to make him out
Soon, he'll be takin' out his due

5. Then one day I decided,
that I would write a little letter
She said the spellin' was a masterpiece,
the punctuation could be better

6. Just as long as there's a can left in that cooler
Just as long as there's a bass left in that lake
That just means we still got some work to do here
Just as long as there's still gas left in that tank

7. Creature comfort goals
They only numb my soul and make it hard for me to see
My thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away
I need a change of scenery

8. Reese Witherspoon,
She’s the prom queen
Bill Gates,
Captain of the chess team
Jack Black, the clown
Brad Pitt, the quarterback
I’ve seen it all before
I want my money back

9. Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart

10. About forty-five minutes southeast of Thibodeaux, Lousisiana
Lived a man called Doc Milsap and his pretty wife Hanna.
Well they raised up a son who could eat up his weight in groceries.
Named him after a man of the cloth.

11. The scars of your love remind me of us
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling
We could have had it all

"Rolling in the Deep" - Adele

"You Never Even Call Me By My Name" - David Allen Coe
