Don't go crazy on the title. There is a Club that's relevant to this quiz, but that won't help you figure it out. It might help to know that there is not a single additional movie I could have added to the list.

You've already uncovered one important fact here.

This Tangredi may be hard to spot, but you people have figured out tougher ones in the past. I have faith!

(Remember, there will be no alternate matches.)
We can do this, huh?

I keep playing with the title. Club Hollywood.

Nightclub? Club Med? Ball clubs?

I am looking, Frank, I really am. But nothing is coming to me.

NIGHTCLUBS!! George Chakiras of Young Girls of Rochefort was in the Rosemary Clooney nightclub scene in White Christmas!

No?

One important fact? George Chakiris?

Is the CLUB Oscar winners?

Even I Married an Axe Murderer has an Oscar winner in the cast - Brenda Fricker.

So does Valley of the Dolls - Lee Grant.

That HAS to be the club - OSCAR WINNERS.

If it IS Oscar winners, then Inside Moves has to be here for Harold Russell, who didn't make many movies.

I'm still not sure how we put this together -- Consecutive? We match up the movies with people who won the same year? We'll figure it out.

For example:

8. THE KING AND I = Rita Moreno + 36. THE YOUNG GIRLS OF ROCHEFORT = George Chakiris. Both Best Supporting in 1961

Let's look at some movies:

Song of the South yields Hattie McDaniel
Journey for Margaret = Fay Bainter
Come Back Little Sheba = Burt Lancaster

Off-hand, I don't see an Anne Baxter movie to go with Harold Russell, for 1946 supporting. But that's a first glance.

The reason there can be no alternates is that the winners are the winners and that's that.

I think it might be each year in which two or more acting Oscars were won for the same movie. Have there only been 38 of those? I don't think there's ever been a sweep of all four, has there?

A trio could be 15. POLTERGEIST (Beatrice Straight) + 43. THE TOWERING INFERNO (Faye Dunaway) + 70. THE FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX (Peter Finch) = Network (1976)

That makes sense -- we'd be looking for Fredric March instead of Anne Baxter.

And Faye Bainter, Hattie McDaniel and Burt Lancaster all won for a movie which produced another Oscar winner.

33. WHITE CHRISTMAS (Bing Crosby) + 69. THE QUIET MAN (Barry Fitzgerald) = Going My Way (1944)
50. THE COURTSHIP OF EDDIE'S FATHER (Shirley Jones) + 14. COME BACK, LITTLE SHEBA (Burt Lancaster) = Elmer Gantry (1960)

Mercedes McCambridge provided the voice in The Exorcist, so that takes care of the Broderick Crawford (Born Yesterday match).

I think that's it.

As far as I can remember, the only pre-1936 movie (intro od supporting Oscars) we'll be looking for is It Happened One Night.

19. PALM BEACH STORY (Claudette Colbert) + 49. SAN FRANCISCO (Clark Gable) = It Happened One Night (1934).

This explains why Frank said that he had to use Flower Drum Song (44), since there aren't a whole lot of other Miyoshi Umeki movies available and she links with Red Buttons who was in the Poseidon Adventure (9)(Sayonara).

On the other hand, there are a number of Sandy Dennis (Up the Down Staircase) 37 movies around to link with Ivanhoe Liz Taylor (62) for Virginia Wolfe.

Jane Fonda (9 to 5) (53) and Jon Voight Deliverance (4) in Coming Home

As I recall, Jodie Foster and Sir Anthony Hopkins both won for The Silence of the Lambs. I don't remember whether that match has been made and I'm too lazy to check. --Bob

The movie used three times is The Departed. Each time Jack Nicholson won, someone else won for the same movie ---

54. THE DEPARTED (Jack Nicholson) + 10. THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (Shirley MacLaine) = Terms of Endearment

54. THE DEPARTED (Jack Nicholson) + 37. CAST AWAY (Helen Hunt) = As Good As It Gets

54. THE DEPARTED (Jack Nicholson) + ??? (Louise Fletcher) = One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

The movie used twice is Fire Over England, for Vivien Leigh and give us part of the other triple

38. FIRE OVER ENGLAND (Vivien Leigh+ 75. PATTON (Karl Malden) + ??? (Kim Hunter) = A Streetcar Named Desire

38. FIRE OVER ENGLAND (Vivien Leigh) + 60. SONG OF THE SOUTH (Hattie McDaniel) = Gone with the Wind

63. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (Cloris Leachman) + ???? (Ben Johnson) = The Last Picture Show

23. ARTHUR (Liza Minelli) + ??? (Joel Gray) = Cabaret

Yeah, I knew that Harold Russell was in that movie. I just didn't connect it to my "Oscar club" thought last week.

67. HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS starred Matthew McConaughey. His co-star in "Dallas Buyers Club" was Jared Leto, who was in 39. REQUIEM FOR A DREAM.
