Update on brother in law
His temp spiked to 104.2 today. He is still on ventilator and they had to up his 02 to 100% when it had been down as low as 40%.
Treated him over the weekend for possible fungal infection, he had a terrible reaction to the medication causing him to go into complete respiratory distress.
Not knowing why this infection is not responding to any of the medications is frustrating and hard on everyone. He's been on the ventilator over 2 weeks now. I have yet to see him open his eyes and I go see him everyday. Need prayers, vibes, white hot glares, whatever you got to help him through this.
Appreciate it!

Thanks. We are quite worried. Reminds me of when my sister had pneumonia and never recovered. Three months later she was gone. We are very discouraged.

Re: Update on brother in law
Thanks everyone. His fever was down today. If it stays down tonight and tomorrow morning, they want to do a trach and take him off the ventilator. The feeding tube will be put directly into his stomach. We are hoping he can pull out of this, knowing that he will face a slow recovery and rehab. They have to keep him sedated while on the vent so he won't try to pull it out, which could cause damage to his throat and they may not be able to get it back if needed.
Still needs lots of prayers, glares and whatever you got.

Still heavily sedated today, however they did do the trach and hope to get him off the ventilator soon. He is going on 3 weeks and it's critical he gets off it soon.

They did the trach today. He was sitting up for the first time since the weekend of July 4th. He's very weak and still pretty confused. He has no clue how long he has been there. He still has the ventilator so they can slowly get him off of it completely. If things go well, he may be moved out of ICU by Monday to a regular room.
A good turnaround today. Hoping he continues to improve.

Re: Update on brother in law
Another set back this weekend. They did the trach on Friday so they can work on getting him off the ventilator. Saturday he sat up in bed for the first time since July 7. Still very groggy and has no clue how long he's been there.
Sunday was a bad day as he was throwing up, fever, etc. The medication for the nausea put him right to sleep and he is depending on the ventilator a little more. There was talk Friday of moving him from ICU to a regular room some time today, but that didn't happen with this latest set back.
Still needs prayers, glares, vibes and thoughts.

Day 25 and still in ICU. We just don't know why he can't seem to get better. That's about it.
