Re: Auditions in SF announced
Another road audition has been announced: Stamford, Conn. on August 15 & 18. Calling it a road audition is a stretch, since this is the same town where Millionaire is now taped and the studio audience can audition.

Maybe they figure that the word hasn't gotten out, and the regional folks still think it's being taped in Manhattan.jarnon wrote:Another road audition has been announced: Stamford, Conn. on August 15 & 18. Amazing. Like when they scheduled extra auditions in NYC, because those Where Else folks never did get enough opportunities to audition.jarnon wrote:Another road audition has been announced: Stamford, Conn. on August 15 & 18. If I could ask new host Terry Crews one question, it'd be "can you do what Regis could do and Meredith and Cedric couldn't? Can you host with contestants who haven't been handpicked to appear with you."

Is there anyone here that still tries to get on?
I tried two years ago when they came to Philly...haven't cared to try again since.

I think goongas still goes to auditions, since he works nearby in NYC. And he still gets brushed off.Jeemie wrote:Is there anyone here that still tries to get on?
They broke my spirit when I gave it one last try before selling my parents' house in NJ. Now, it would take much more of a special effort to drive down to NYC (or to Stamford) specifically to get another Sad E-Mail.

CHad Mosher made a jab at a contestant on the 8/25/1999 episode of WWTBAM on Game SHow FOrum last week(was in the Big Board, but got moved yesterday) and used said contestant to show why WWTBAM should never and most likely never will use the phone game to find contestants again

I went once this season to see the new producers, but no luck. I won't go again to tryout for a very long time.

I couldn't quickly find Chad's jab. It looks as if everything is in The Big Board. When they move posts from there, where do they get moved to?zachhoran1 wrote:CHad Mosher made a jab at a contestant on the 8/25/1999 episode of WWTBAM on Game SHow FOrum last week(was in the Big Board, but got moved yesterday) and used said contestant to show why WWTBAM should never and most likely never will use the phone game to find contestants again
Was he talking about
Michael Shutterly
or
Mark Dixon?

I'll try again next year when I'm eligible. I had a year left in the pool when Wheel sent me the congratulatory letter placing me in their pool (with the difference being that entry into Wheel's pool means you're going to be on the show). I was never called anyway for WWTBAM, so it's twice I've been flushed out.

I auditioned in Las Vegas; my show will be on sometime this season. I would much rather have auditioned in San Francisco.Jeemie wrote:Is there anyone here that still tries to get on?

To answer the Terry Crews question, he is funny, warm, and personable. We had a nice chat about having homeschooled our kids during the commercial break. The audience seems to like him, and he looked like he was having fun hosting the show.

That's nice.ElendilPickle wrote:To answer the Terry Crews question, he is funny, warm, and personable. We had a nice chat about having homeschooled our kids during the commercial break. The audience seems to like him, and he looked like he was having fun hosting the show.
But it doesn't answer my question.

I'm still trying out. The only reason I'm not auditioning this year is that I'm already floating in the Pool. I suspect if they were going to call me this season they'd already have done so but if the season concludes without me getting The Call, I'll be right back at it next year. --Bob

Chad was talking about Zach Horan, who didn't make the Hot Seat that night. I haven't posted on that board for eight years after trolling got me one time too many. I don't know where the thread went to from the Big Board(non-members can only see the Big Board there, CHris C. I suspect moved it elsewhere on the board or deleted it). The thread was called "My Hometown has been Horaned"Estonut wrote:I couldn't quickly find Chad's jab. It looks as if everything is in The Big Board. Perhaps I didn't understand your question. I thought you were asking if he is capable of being a good game show host.MarleysGh0st wrote:That's nice.ElendilPickle wrote:To answer the Terry Crews question, he is funny, warm, and personable. Well, you're relatively new here, so you're probably unfamiliar with our history (and the show's history?).ElendilPickle wrote:Perhaps I didn't understand your question. What I mean is: Could Terry host contestants who qualified for this trivia game show by a trivia competition (e.g. the Phone Game) instead of contestants who were cast for their personality, their audition anecdotes, and their demographics? Regis did so and turned the show into a national hit. Meredith could not (although there were a couple gimmick exceptions during her eleven-year tenure) and Cedric never even tried. If I could ask new host Terry Crews one question, it'd be "can you do what Regis could do and Meredith and Cedric couldn't? Can you host with contestants who haven't been handpicked to appear with you."

Nice third person reporting, there.zachhoran1 wrote:Chad was talking about Zach Horan, who didn't make the Hot Seat that night.
So now I'm really curious about what you might have possibly done, during your few seconds of screen time in the ROF, that could be interpreted as convincing TPTB to never allow an uncasted contestant on the air again?

You homeschooled your children during the commercial break? Must be some sort of speed learning.ElendilPickle wrote:To answer the Terry Crews question, he is funny, warm, and personable.
