Welcome to Evil Week.

1. BULLFINCH / SKINNY / ROLLTOP / ARROWHEAD

I didn't know this one, and I have the answer in front of me.

Types of horse jumping obstacles.

2. RIFLE / RUFFLE / ART / UNIS

Add "T" to the beginning of each word to make the name of a dessert.

3. PEG / ED / SO / DUK

Stock symbols for companies in the Dow Jones Utility Average. Public Service Enterprise Group, Con Edison, Southern Company, and Duke Energy.

4. EASTER / THANKSGIVING / CHRISTMAS / FISHHOOK

The first three are holidays, but along came the fishhook to throw everybody off the scent.

Types of cacti.

5. PEE / MORE CRAP / TOILET PAPER / MECHA-STREISAND

Names of "South Park" episodes. This is definitely not the first time that the words "crap" and "Streisand" have appeared in the same sentence.

6. CANADA, CALCIUM / CUBA, COPPER / ANTIGUA & BARBUDA, SILVER / AUSTRALIA, GOLD

Internet domains and chemical elements that share the same two-letter abbreviation.

7. SIR WALTER RALEIGH / BJORK / DR. SEUSS / VINCENT VAN GOGH

These four people have absolutely nothing in common. This one is about their names.

Names that are properly pronounced in a different way than has been accepted by the general public. Sir Walter Raleigh's last name was actually pronounced "Ray-lee" instead of "Rah-lee". Björk's name actually rhymes with "jerk", not "pork". Theodor Geisel's middle name and pen name was the subject of an Alexander Liang poem: "You're wrong as the deuce / And you shouldn't rejoice / If you're calling him Seuss / He pronounces it Soice." And that Dutch painter who cut off his ear wasn't called "van go". He wasn't called "van goff", either. (Sorry, Europeans.) It was pronounced "fahn hoch". I can't quite express his name phonetically, so I'll just direct you to this link:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... n_Gogh.ogg

8. REIGN / RAIN / CHAIN / PAINS

Hold on to your hats, ladies...

Anagrams of countries. Niger, Iran, China, and Spain.

9. DISKLAVIER / FARCE / PRISONER / WHEATIES

Synonyms of Kurt Vonnegut works. Player Piano, Slapstick, Jailbird, and Breakfast of Champions. Yeah, aren't you glad this series is almost over?

Mikhail Gorbachev, Brandi Chastain, Tony Manero, and the Liberty Bell have nothing in common. This was purely a visual question... and quite a sinister one, at that.

All of these images have been reversed. Gorby's birthmark is on the other side of his head. Brandi Chastain held her jersey with her right hand in that famous soccer victory. Tony Manero pointed up with his right index finger in "Saturday Night Fever". And the Liberty Bell's crack cracked the other way.

7/14 scores (4 participants)
Bob Juch - 16
ShamelessWeasel - 16
Bob78164 - 4
