I request half credit for 8 and 16. I knew that was Sabrina and Amy Carter. What I didn't know is that you had to mention this knowledge to get half credit, so I just guessed a couple local popular cat names.

Thank you.

I am such a lucky girl. Rap Cat was one of my jokey guesses. I'd never seen that cat before, but I noticed he was wearing bling on his collar. (You hardly ever see that on a cat!) First I typed Rapper Cat, but I decided I liked the sound of Rap Cat better, so I changed it.

Rally's/Checkers? Isn't that a burger chain and gas station combo?

Hmmm. Checkers is a burger chain. I had no idea. We had Checker's gas stations in Indiana.

I haven't seen a Rally's since I moved to Texas.

I just checked. There is one Checkers in Texas. It's in Beaumont. No Rally's. I guess that's why I didn't recognize that cat.

Hey, it's just like being on WWTBAM: you need to verbalize all your reasoning while in the Hot Seat to lay the foundation for challenging a question later! Bringing that stuff up later doesn't work so well.

I'm not challenging the question, I'm challenging the scoring. I rarely go on and on in the LS, even though I could, and would, if I knew it meant I could get half credit for a song or artist I know something about, but not the actual answer.

As for bringing stuff up later, thank you :D for making my point. That's what the scorer did.

Here's the thing: If I give 9 points in partial credit for "knowing" something but not writing it down in the post, then I'll have to give 9 points to everybody else who didn't answer those two questions. The "rule" about partial credit is rarely ever spelled out in QoD and LS rules, anyway, but most meisters will award it at their discretion if one shows his or her work. In my math classes in school, the teacher gave me partial credit for a math problem if I gave a wrong answer, but showed that I made an effort to get an answer. Then, of course, there's what Marley said.

Scores stand as posted.

Nah, this isn't worth it. Thanks anyway, Pea. I do find a couple things interesting about this. The first is that this reminds me of a while back when two of us remembered that the U.S. Women's Soccer Team had won the World cup twice, and since the Meister wasn't expecting that answer, he threw out the question, so nobody got it right, including the two of us who got it right. The second is that I think the determination would have been different if the question had arisen from a more regular player.

Being a meister is no walk in the park.

I appreciate what it is to be a player and what it is to try and be fair as a meister.

I have had my share of pissiness as a player (do not read that I think you are being pissy - I WAS pissy). I remember getting really angry at Ace once and BDM another time. Looking back, they were doing something, on their own time, so we could have fun. I then got pissy - so not who I want to be.

I have had a hoot playing nelly's games. They are inventive and often things I haven't a clue about. My competitive edge is dull, as I know I will not compete - so, the scoring really doesn't matter to me. I just want there to be a meister.

oh.... you were right about that other thing. I think so too.

Not that anybody asked me (but does that ever matter much here? Ha!), but as somebody who is currently running their second game here as well as somebody who biffed the Stuart Little and Amy Carter questions (although I tried to put something that would fit them, I didn't bother to actually say the cat that hates Stuart Little or Amy Carter's cat), were it my decision, I'd agree with Nelly.

There's a big difference between somebody saying Sabrina's cat and saying a random name (although Chloe is the best cat name ever!). Similar to if somebody puts down a line from a song but has no idea on the name, I'd give them half credit, but I wouldn't give it to somebody who put a different song entirely.

I have no doubts that Sportsfan really knew them, because if she wanted points badly enough to be dishonest, then she would have gotten them right when she answered. So it's not a question of honesty, but a question of working with what you've got, kind of like the 'be more specific' prompts from Alex on Jeopardy.

I'll admit, in a judgment call, I'll give more consideration in whether or not to award points or give partial credit to a dedicated player. Because I think it means more to them. It might not change the ultimate decision, but I'll think about it more before I decide. But, in this specific situation, I wouldn't give the credit if it were the person who sits there every morning refreshing their screen because they just can't WAIT to play the game.

So, I really really doubt that Nelly's decision had anything to do with who the player was, which is really why I jumped in here at all. I just wanted to respond to sports' and peacock's thoughts about that. Because I know how that would make me feel if I was the one running the game.
