Wedding #2 tomorrow

#1 Post by gsabc » Sat Jul 05, 2014 10:16 am

HS gets married tomorrow. We will be very glad when it's over. Not because we're getting rid of HS; that happened years ago. No, it's because arranging everything has been much worse than for BD's wedding. We love his fiancee, but her family, shall we say, has issues. It has been like a soap opera happening in real life. And I learned last night that the one major soap-operish area of my side may happen as well. I haven't told GW, and will not until after the wedding, if ever. She's stressing enough about the wedding as it is.

So. Everything that needs to be at the venue is there. We've got our tuxes (and that was a soap episode by itself, or maybe a sitcom). The rehearsal is over, though if it stays as windy as today, the ceremony moves inside. That's out of our control, so f**k it. If it happens it happens. I keep saying that to GW. The "happens" phrase, not the "f**k it" part which is what I'm thinking. It'll all be over in about 30 hours. Now for a nap.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Good luck. Things will be fine. If you son is happy, that is the important thing. I wish the couple the best.

Ceremonies are probably beginning "as we speak", or soon anyway, but not too soon to wish best of days to you & the happy couple (& fiance's' family with the issues, why not as well!).

Mazel tov. And it sounds like the literal meaning is quite useful in this case. --Bob

A good drip from above?

Bob is right. It's the original trickle-down theory, with the ultimate CEO.

I guess we got all our tsuris out of the way before the wedding. Everything went wonderfully. A good portion of the mishpochah was there. We got a picture of all the second cousins (minus one who couldn't make it), plus one set of third cousins. But oy, am I tired and achy this morning!

(sorry, but looking up Yiddish meanings makes me a little meshugganah)

I actually just learned something! Always thought "mazel" meant "luck". Been told that anyway. I don't consider Chabad peeps the ultimate source on things Talmudic, so I will be looking for this elsewhere too, but I'd bet they're not making it up.

And congrats at the incident-less & happy wedding!

Glad it went well (or better than you expected). Congrats.

Well a "drip from above" is supposed to be good luck of sorts. I'm told however that Hebrews don't believe in luck.

I dunno who-all are these Hebrews that have been telling you stuff, but Jews such as I do. Maybe we're not supposed to?, but nobody told me that growing up, either.
