Having been in a "hot sauce" store in Charleston SC last year, I can tell you firsthand that consuming anything with the label "ghost pepper" is playing with fire -- and not just metaphorically.

I tend to like my food spicy, with the only limits being the top-end Thai spicy (our nearby Thai restaurant seems to run hotter than others) or the topmost hot wings. It's not that I don't like them, but I'd like to spend the rest of the evening not being miserable. So, when I went into said shop, where they had samples out, I tried a ghost pepper hot sauce.

One drop on a small cracker.

One soda, three glasses of water, and a pint of milk later, I still was watering at the eyes (among other things).

Lesson learned.
