Question re timing of audition e-mails

#1 Post by AlphaDummy » Wed Jun 25, 2014 7:26 pm

Okay...it has been two days short of two weeks since the Naperville auditions, and thus far, no feedback in the mail, either snail or e. Am I the only one to think something to be a bit odd here? Given the lack of a video interview, I fully expected the contemporary version of Drop Dead Fred to show up in my mailbox by now (themanwho reported his nastygram nearly a week ago, and my son got his the day before that). But for me...nada. Now my instinct is steering me more toward TPTB having botched my e-mail address. At the same time...I befriended a newbie during the break between the written test and the AP interview. We connected on Facebook; after I got home that night she let me know that she had been given the video interview, and she said she will let me know when she hears more. As of the writing of this post, though...once again, nothing to report. Now, she could be in the same boat as your humble correspondent...but my gut hunch based on first impressions tells me that she could well be on her way to enjoying a Happy Mail very soon. OTOH, the Vegas smileys came down less than a week after the auditions...and, like I said at the top, there are at least two people still hanging nearly two weeks after Naperville.

Does anybody else think a gap of a week between :( and :) - assuming that there are still e-mails to be sent - to be unusually long? I'm soooooo confused.......

Mine went to my spam folder. My interviewer informed me it might.

Did you get the email today informing you that tickets are available for taping the new season? If not, you may be right about the wrong email address thing.

Been checking my spam folder - nothing there. Nothing about tickets, either - although I have never received any e-mail from Millionaire at any point in time. But now you have me wondering if I might have inadvertently wound up with their address on my blocked list. Could you please PM me the addresses from which you received the nastygram as well as the ticket info - either here or on FB - so that I can check against my list? Thanks!

I bet it is hard to wonder if the email was lost or if there was no email. If you are in the pool will you get a postcard or an email?

I hope you are in the pool and you take 'em for a million bucks.

Thanks! From everything I have seen/heard, they are strictly e-mail now. I checked to see if the addresses themanwho sent me were on my blocked list - nope. So I am still in the same position as yesterday.

This might sound like heresy - but is anybody aware of any other forum similar to this that might have any info from its own posters regarding Naperville? Yeah...I am antsy...I admit it...

HERETIC!

Okay, I know there used to be another game show forum that used to have occasional posts about WWTBAM, but I just checked my old links and they don't work any more. I doubt very much that anybody else has better info that we do.

In the process, I noticed that TPTB have a Millionaire "board" for Contestant Auditions - Season 13 in Pinterest (a social media site I've never used), but that's like their Facebook page: all promos from TPTB and no interaction with or between the fans. It's not like the good ol' days when they actually thought it was a good idea for us to talk with each other. :|

So let me bring your antsy-ness back down to Earth. You told us that you did not advance to the video audition. While we can't know for sure what policies, if any, might be be changing this season, we can be pretty darn sure that that's still the kiss of death. So even if your Sad E-mail hasn't arrived yet, resign yourself to that being the eventual outcome.

Bob-o-many-numbers said something about TPTB calling him to redo a Skype video interview or something, a while back. If any of us boring MAWGs are to have a chance with the new crop of APs, hearing that he got The Call would be the most likely signal of that.

Are you saying I'm boring? --Bob

Assuming you're talking about the "Invision" forum, yes, they moved a while back to http://www.gameshowforum.org/

Top post in the main forum is pics of the updated set. Looks kind of nice.

Well...yeah. I've been around the block a few times, and I know how things are assumed to work...see my seven-word report in the 2014 audition thread, as well as my line in the OP of this thread. If the context wasn't clear, my thought was that the most likely reason I hadn't received the junk mail along with the others was that TPTB screwed up my e-mail address. At the same time, there are a few details about my audition that I have deliberately chosen not to reveal for reasons that I prefer not to discuss in public. Will these details change my odds? Probably not. Remember, though, that there was a point in time where part of the AP's warm-up included the line that "just because you don't get a video interview doesn't mean that you will not be selected". Given that I have not yet received official word, I am still technically in the running; obviously, though, the fact that I have not received any sort of notification two weeks after the fact causes whatever hope I do have to diminish every day.

Maybe I am a bit too optimistic in these matters. In fact, I would suggest that my having made a dozen audition attempts probably confirms that hypothesis in a big way. Nevertheless, unless we know for a fact that absolutely nobody has gone through without a video interview since they were instituted, our evidence - as convincing as it might be - is still not 100% foolproof. However overwhelming the odds, I refuse to kill off that tiny whisper of hope, as naive as it may make me appear. This is not denial; I do know the extremely-likely outcome, and as always, I am prepared for it. At the same time...at the twelve-day point, there were at least two people who had not received word of any kind. So, forgive my antsy-ness. But, at the same time, please try to understand it.

Hmmmm. Maybe they said that occasionally, but the general memory I have is that the APs kept it very secret that some people were asked to stay for a video interview, so as not to upset those who were being dismissed without one. During my last audition in 2012, when I talked about having gotten to the video interview the previous time, my AP told me (privately) that those video interviews weren't always given, particularly with the the move to their new studio (at the time, the one a few blocks west of the original one on W. 67th St.). And she was very enthusiastic about my audition and gave me the impression that this time I might finally get The Call.

And that hopeful impression didn't even last until I left the studio, because I talked to one of the other auditioners who told me that he did get a video interview. Uh huh. Those APs can talk a good game, when they need to. :|

That other auditioner, BTW, was a MAWGish dentist from Long Island, who had chatted with the warm-up comedian during the tapings. From that interaction, I though he had a good chance to be selected, but I never saw him on the show, either.

I understand. The dream dies hard.

AD, my interview this season, the AP ended the interview with verifying my email address? Obviously as soon as it was happening, I knew she had already rejected me in her mind, and she wanted to make sure the rejection email would get to me. Is that how your interview ended?

It did end with verification of the e-mail, yes. Inasmuch as the word on the street was they were using e-mail for tidings both good and bad, however, I did not give it much thought at all.

Nope...nothing about availability at all. Either in regards to schedule or marital status.
