Ahmed Abu Khatallah, the suspect captured by U.S. special forces on Tuesday for his role in the 2012 Benghazi attack, reportedly said he was motivated in part by the anti-Islam online video made in America, according to the New York Times.
"What he did in the period just before the attack has remained unclear. But Mr. Abu Khattala told other Libyans in private conversations during the night of the attack that he was moved to attack the diplomatic mission to take revenge for an insult to Islam in an American-made online video," Times reporter David Kirkpatrick wrote in a story on Khattala on Tuesday.

Benghazi Attack was Revenge For Anti-Islam Video

Should it be against the law to make anti-islamic videos?

As Hillary put it, "At this point, what difference does it make?"
More significantly, we finally got this guy off the streets. He's been at large in Benghazi and thumbing his nose at the authorities for months. He reminded me of a Mexican drug lord, more worried about his criminal rivals and even his own henchmen than the cops.

And of course one would believe him, coming from a culture of deception as a regular daily modus operandi. Case closed! Did you get hit too much in dodgeball back in the day by second grade Repubs? As much as I know all of our political parties operate deceptively, they can't compare with mideast/east cultures. If we recognized this our intel might work better.Bob Juch wrote:I didn't know he was a Republican.Beebs52 wrote:And of course one would believe him, coming from a culture of deception as a regular daily modus operandi. What would you expect a Democrat spokesman to say? Jay Carney said the same thing.Bob Juch wrote:Ahmed Abu Khatallah, the suspect captured by U.S. special forces on Tuesday for his role in the 2012 Benghazi attack, reportedly said he was motivated in part by the anti-Islam online video made in America, according to the New York Times.

..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

I kind of understand the political reasons for promulgating the "Anti-Islamic" video meme. But why should we care if somebody is offended by such a video? Maybe we should just flip them the bird and say "Grow up."
Remember a very large portion of the demographic that is (ostensibly) offended by such a video cuts the clits (or worse) off little girls. Doesn't seem to be practiced (much) in Libya-but Egypt (another video country) is probably the worst practitioner.
Maybe we shouldn't coddle such a mindset.

Hateful videos can do real harm. We Jews have suffered from the anger incited by antisemitic propaganda, and many other minorities can say the same. If someone is incensed about barbaric Middle Eastern practices, he can make a video condemning them, but not one that says Mohammed was a fraud and immoral.Spock wrote:I kind of understand the political reasons for promulgating the "Anti-Islamic" video meme. Of course, in America, even the most repugnant video is legal, thanks to the Bill of Rights. The Founding Fathers could have written: "Americans shall have freedom of speech (except Nazis), freedom of religion (except Muslims), freedom of the press (except Wikileaks), the right to make political contributions (except the very rich), the right to bear arms (except hate groups), and the right to a fair trial (except terrorists)." But they didn't, so people we don't like have the same rights as everyone else.
