Among the stories that show up in my Google Alerts about WWTBAM, this one was unusual. Regis is touting a company that mines rare earth metals.

Among the excited investors: Regis Philbin. The onetime host of the television game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire promoted Molycorp during an appearance on CNBC last week. He’s been buying the company’s stock for years, often adding more when the price fell.
Perhaps he should’ve phoned a friend. Molycorp’s closing price yesterday was $2.81, down 96 percent from its peak in 2011.
Ouch!
Maybe you better host another series of prime-time WWTBAM episodes, Reege, to cover that (paper) loss!

Regis looked great and was pretty funny on Letterman last night. His segment(s) ran long so they bumped the scheduled standup comedian.
I think I'll get my hot investment tips elsewhere.

One of my former Long Island NTN teammates has been touting Molycorp for eight years; it was over $10/share then.
